2023 Cadillac Escalade Overview

Today, one of the most well-known cars on the road is the 2023 Cadillac Escalade. It looks scary on the road because it is so big and looks different from other cars. Most likely, the owners are trying to say something, and it’s not hard to figure out what. This year, a new version of the Escalade, the Escalade V, has been added that will make an even bigger splash.

If you know about Cadillac, you know that the V is the name for its high-performance cars. The supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine in the new Escalade V does the same, making 682 horsepower and 653 lb-ft of torque. Cadillac claims that this large SUV can reach 60 miles per hour in less than 4.4 seconds from 0 to 60 miles per hour.

The Escalade is one of many big luxury SUVs on the market. Each of its rivals has its look and feel. Because it has so much chrome, the Lincoln Navigator is just as big and noticeable as the Cadillac. Even though it is smaller and can’t tow as much as the BMW X7, the Mercedes-Benz GLS has a more luxurious cabin.

The way the Escalade is driven. Cadillac doesn’t tell you how big and heavy the Escalade is. Even though the Escalade’s 6.2-liter V8 engine doesn’t get it to 60 mph as fast as some of its competitors (6.7 seconds), it is still strong enough. On-ramps and passing on the interstate are easy, and the V8 has excellent sound. The transmission is typically relatively smooth and has a level of intelligence that allows it to be in the correct gear most of the time. However, it sometimes shifts into gears that need to be clarified, and we wish the shift paddles worked in Drive instead of just Low.

The Escalade isn’t very sporty, but it does a great job of turning corners. Because the steering is light and direct, it’s easy to park or drive on curved roads.

How cozy is the Escalade, anyway? Even though the Escalade’s ride isn’t as smooth as that of rivals like the Mercedes GLS, it’s usually fine. Even though the seats are less comfortable than the best in their class, you won’t complain after driving hundreds of kilometers. In addition, it is usually very peaceful.

The climate control system keeps the temperature steady, but better options exist. We have to change the programmed temperature all the time because the vents don’t give us enough control. Because the seats are heated, they can set up the zones more precisely.

How does the inside look? As you might expect, the Escalade’s inside is roomy and airy. The big doors and easy-to-reach grab handles make getting in and out quickly a bit of a climb, and all three rows are big enough for adults. Depending on what you like, the high, truck-like seat position can be good or bad. Even though you can’t see much outside, it’s easy to park thanks to the exterior camera system.

Most controls are easy to use, but a few are in strange places or hard to find. We often need to click the right button when trying to change the environment because the switches controlling things are dark and complex to see at night.

How good is the tech? Some of the most cutting-edge technology from General Motors is in the Escalade. That so much of it is up to the individual is disappointing. The adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist make it easier to drive a big SUV, but some features, like the night vision camera, are more of a novelty.

The Escalade’s digital gauge cluster and infotainment display are also high-quality additions. There is much room for customization, and the Escalade’s wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto make it easy to play music or podcasts directly from phone apps. Every row has a USB-C port and a charging pad so everyone can charge their devices.

What about putting things away? The Escalade’s cargo room is vast. Even though the liftover is a bit high, the area is big and open, and the Escalade’s adaptive air suspension can lower it when it’s parked to make it easier to load things. Small things are easy to store because there are many pockets and bins for items like sunglasses and hand sanitizer bottles. The center console can be cooled as an option. The Escalade can pull 8,200 pounds when it is built and equipped right, which is more than enough for a small or medium-sized trailer.

Putting a car seat for a child in the back should be pretty straightforward. There’s enough room for a chair that faces backward, the doors open wide, and the anchors are easy to get to. Because the seats are up high, getting in can take a lot of work.

How well does it use gasoline? With the 6.2-liter V8 and 4WD, the EPA says the fuel economy is 16 mpg. That could be better, even for a big SUV. We got 17.5 mpg when we tested an Escalade with a V8 and 4WD, so you should expect to get about what the EPA says or a little better. Select diesel over regular gas to save your expenditures. The highest possible MPG is 23.

How much does the Escalade cost? The Escalade’s cabin doesn’t look as lovely as the best luxury SUVs, especially in the second and third rows, but it’s okay for the driver and front passenger. It’s made of top-notch leather and has a straightforward style. Also, the digital display that goes across the dash looks great. Even though some of the trim and buttons look a little cheap, it’s a great place to spend your trip if you’re the one driving.

The prices are comparable to those of the competition. The basic warranty for a Cadillac is four years or 50,000 miles. The contract for the powertrain is six years or 70,000 miles. Only one year of scheduled maintenance is included with a Cadillac, but you get six years of roadside assistance.

Nothing this big and heavy could be considered fun to drive in a sporty way, but riding in a big, comfortable SUV with a V8 engine could be fun. It feels better than most other SUVs because of the inside’s style. Driving an Escalade has always been appealing, in part because of how scary it looks with its enormous size and sharp edges.

We suggest getting the Premium Luxury trim level. This trim can be equipped with air suspension, the Super Cruise hands-free highway driving assistance system, and several other features that help the driver.

Cadillac Escalade models

When it comes out in 2023, the Escalade will be a three-row luxury SUV that can fit up to eight people if a bench seat in the second row is chosen as an option. You can choose between the Sport, Platinum, Premium Luxury, Luxury, and Premium Luxury trim levels. All but the Escalade V come with rear-wheel Drive and a 6.2-liter V8 engine with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. You can use some of the four wheels.

There is also a 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine with six cylinders (277 horsepower, 460 lb-ft of torque). The 682 horsepower and 653 lb-ft of torque from the new Escalade V’s supercharged 6.2-liter V8 are sent to the ground by a unique all-wheel-drive system. Every Escalade has an automatic transmission with ten different speeds.
