Toyota’s new electric subcompact car, the C-HR+, has been released in Europe. Toyota’s upcoming electric vehicle will offer front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive powertrain options, along with a selection of two battery packs. The Toyota C-HR+ will be sold in Europe by the end of the year and may finally be available in the US. The Toyota C-HR was a small SUV with a strange look. It was sold in the US in 2018 but stopped production after 2022. In some places, a second version of the C-HR took its place, and Toyota just released the C-HR+, an electric model that can be used independently in Europe. The C-HR+ is 108.3 inches long, more than four inches longer than the C-HR that was sold in our country before, and almost six inches shorter than the Toyota bZ4X. The updated bZ4X uses the newest e-TNGA platform, which is also used for the electric C-HR+. In Europe, the C-HR+’s single-motor front-wheel-drive system can make 164 or 221 horsepower, depending on the size of the battery. There is also a type with 337 horsepower and all-wheel drive that has two motors. These electric motors are powered by battery packs that can hold about 51.9 or 69.3 kWh of power. Toyota will put 11 kW or 22 kW Level 2 AC chargers on board, and the fastest DC charger will be able to handle 150 kW. Adding a heat pump should make it more efficient, and the C-HR+ has technology that pre-conditions the batteries so that they charge more quickly in hot and cold weather. A group of digital gauges is placed high on the electric crossover’s dashboard in front of the driver. There is also a 14.0-inch tablet in the middle, and the dashboard looks a lot like the upgraded bZ4X. Toyota says that the space behind the back seats can hold about 15 cubic feet of things. Blind-spot monitoring and automatic high lighting are just two of the driving aids that come with every C-HR+. Since the C-HR, or Coupe-High Rider, which is what the letters were supposed to stand for, was also called the “Chair,” should the electric model be called the “Electric Chair”? No matter what, you’ll be able to buy it in Europe by the end of 2025. The C-HR+ could be sold in the US as a second Toyota electric car and go with the bZ4X even if the regular C-HR isn’t available there. But it won’t happen until 2026, even if it does.
