2023 FIAT 500X Overview What’s New? The “Trekking” trim level is no longer available. A Fiat 500X from the first generation that was made in 2016 Until early next year, when the new 500e all-electric hatchback comes out, the 2023 Fiat 500X is the only option. It is a small crossover with all-wheel drive and a solid turbocharged engine. But that’s all the 500X has going for it. The inside is small, and some technology could use some work. Compared to competitors like the Volkswagen Taos, Mazda CX-30, and Chevy Trailblazer, these problems are even more critical. They usually drive better and have more space and features. Pros vs Cons Pros Easily recognizable Italian design Standard four-wheel drive A well-thought-out inside Cons People and goods only have a little room. A slight touch screen can be hard to use. High cost at the start There are a lot of tools to help you drive, but only a few of them are helpful. Performance Where does the 500X’s power come from? Even though the turbocharged four-cylinder engine is small, it does a great job. During testing by InvoicePricing, our all-wheel-drive 500X test vehicle reached 60 mph in 8.9 seconds, which is a good time for a small SUV. During daily driving, the automatic transmission changes gear quickly and use the engine’s low-rpm power to its fullest. Fiat says the 500X is sporty, but we didn’t find it very sporty. Its handling was average for the class. When turning, it means a lot, and the tires don’t grip well. You have to look elsewhere if you want to drive a sporty SUV. Comfort How is the 500X for comfort? The most valuable thing about the 500X is how smooth the ride is. For such a small car, it moves well. The support and comfort of the front seats are good enough. The back cushions were a little tricky, and the backs of the chairs were a little tall. The temperature control system is easy to use, but it might not keep you cool enough on sweltering days. Even though the cabin is good at blocking out outside noise, the 500X’s interior technology features make so many beeps, bongs, clicks, and warning sirens that they destroy any peace in the cabin. Interior How does the inside look? The cabin of the 500X is quite simple to enter and exit, which is one of our favourite features of this vehicle. Because the doors are so vast, you can slip in and out. The large windows and well-placed side mirrors also make it easy to see what’s going on outside. Even though the back seats in this class are uncomfortable for people over 6 feet tall, the front cabin is big. Most of the 500X controls are easy to use. Even though the infotainment system takes a long time to respond, it is easy to use. Only having to use the touchscreen menus every time we wanted to turn off one of the annoyingly sensitive driver aids was annoying. Technology How good is the tech? The 500X’s 7-inch touchscreen looks tiny and average, even for a subcompact car. Even though it has every feature, people who need help seeing it may find its size hard. The improved sound system in our test vehicle needs more bass and low-end punch, which makes some music sound flat. The good news for your charging-obsessed passengers is that the 500X has three USB ports, more than its competitors. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also built in as standard features. There are several advanced driving aids, some of which are too sensitive. Also, the alarms that go off before some disasters are often more scary than helpful. Storage What about putting things away? The trunk space behind the back seats of the 500X is only 14.1 cubic feet, but it’s enough for groceries and other small items. Pulling down the rear seats makes room for bigger things. The cabin, on the other hand, has a lot more space for personal items. The door pockets can hold water bottles up to a specific size, and the two-level glove box makes good use of the area on the front dashboard. When installing a rear-facing child safety seat, it must fit snugly behind the front seats. There’s not enough space. At least it’s easy to find the car seat anchors. Fuel Economy How well does it use gasoline? The EPA gives the 500X a combined fuel economy rating of 26 mpg, slightly lower than most of its competitors. On our 115-mile test route, however, our test 500X got a solid 29.2 mpg, which shows that the EPA’s estimate is correct for regular driving. Value Is it wise to buy the 500X? The 500X has a stylish interior. There are many soft-touch materials inside the car, and even if the body-color panels are just thin plastic, they still look good. The biggest problems are the high price and the accessories’ sounds. If things were different, it would significantly affect how this car feels. Fiat’s four-year/50,000-mile powertrain and bumper-to-bumper warranties are longer than some, but they need more regarding powertrain coverage. Wildcard At least the 500X has its style. The little Fiat stands out among other small SUVs because it has some excellent Italian touches inside and out. And while it might not be as fun to drive as Fiat says, it gives the impression that you are having fun. That’s the main idea behind this. What is Invoice Pricing's Recommendation? Even though the Trekking model, which was in the middle, is no longer available, we recommend the Pop trim. It comes with a good range of standard features, and if you choose the Comfort Group, you can add features that are usually only found in the Sport for a little more money. If you want adaptive cruise control, buy the top Sport model with the Technology Group item. Different kinds of FIAT 500X The 500X will have Pop and Sport trim levels in 2023. Only a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 177 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque is available for all models. It runs a standard all-wheel-drive system through an automatic transmission with nine speeds. 2023 FIAT 500x Video Review
