The Kia Telluride came out in 2020 to fight with SUVs with three rows of seats, like the Honda Pilot, Subaru Ascent, and Toyota Highlander. The Telluride, on the other hand, quickly went to the top of the charts instead of competing. It has a beautiful outside, an open interior, and a lot of storage room. It’s also fun to drive. The Telluride has been the best SUV in its class for five years in a row, and we have a hard time suggesting another one because it is so well made. Do you still think that all Kias are cheap? Change the way you think. The Telluride’s interior is about the same quality as the inside of a high-end car that costs twice as much. We’re sure that everything will last for years of rough use because there aren’t many panel gaps, the materials are great, and the building is solid. You’ll get the best of both worlds inside the Telluride, and that’s not even counting the many technological features that make the experience better. Even though the Telluride is the best in its class overall, other cars can beat it. For example, the Mazda CX-90’s interior feels fancier, and the car’s six-cylinder turbocharged engine makes it even more fun to drive. If you want more space, the Toyota Grand Highlander’s huge size gives you even more for people and things. How is living with other people? Invoice drove a Telluride for over 20,000 kilometers and more than a year to test it. Pros vs Cons Pros It has soft seats and a smooth ride so that you can be comfortable all day. The big space is great for families with a lot of kids. There are a lot of basic tech and safety features for the price. Driver aids are easy to use and do their job well. Cons There is more space for small items than for some rivals. Full throttle makes progress, jerky. Performance How do you drive a Telluride? The Telluride is a great SUV to drive. It moves about averagely for a three-row SUV, but its V6 engine is very quick. Our test car, the Telluride, went from 0 to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds, which is about the same time as the Honda Pilot and Hyundai Palisade. The Telluride may be able to stop quickly thanks to its strong brakes. We were always able to stop from 60 mph in 123 feet, which was a little faster than the average for our class. It’s very simple to use the brakes to stop your car safely on the street. The driving is light in the parking lot, but it gets heavier as you go around corners. The Telluride stays stable and doesn’t bounce around too much when going around turns. We really like how easily and quietly the engine’s stop-start function works to save gas. The transmission jumps around a bit on some grades, and the upshifts can be annoying when speeding up, but these are pretty easy. Comfort What is the Telluride’s comfort level? It’s nice and cozy in Telluride. The supportive, beautifully made chairs have headrests that look like pillows. Very little outside noise gets in, so even at highway speeds, the car is as quiet as a high-end sedan. There is some engine noise, but it’s always quiet and quiet. Most of the time, the Telluride rides well for a three-row SUV. However, it might be rough on rough ground. The X-Pro is designed to be used off-road, but it also works great on roads, giving you more comfort and protection against craters and cracks. The easy-to-use climate control system keeps all three rows at the right temperature. Even though the seats aren’t the best on the market, it’s nice that people in the first and second rows can heat and cool their seats. Interior How is the inside? All three seats are easy to get to in the Telluride, which has a very roomy and stylish cabin. The second and third seats have plenty of room for people. The many large windows make the room feel even more open. The only area that is a little small is the knee room for the front passenger. The settings’ names are easy to understand and make sense. Kia has made the tablet closer to the driver so that they don’t have to reach far. Several big windows make it easy to see outside. Adding parking devices and cameras is a good idea. Technology What’s wrong with the tech? All Tellurides come with a number of systems that help keep them from colliding and damage from happening. They also have adaptive cruise control, which can stop the car at any speed. As standard, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for smartphones are built in, and there are a lot of USB ports spread out over all three rows, but only one of them can send data. Smartphones don’t have a wireless connection. A standard 12.3-inch touchscreen for entertainment is built into a case right next to the set of gauges. It has a big screen that is easy to see from the driver’s seat in all trim levels. Models above the SX level also have a 12.3-inch display in the instrument panel. The larger display in the instrument cluster makes the blind-spot view device work better. The new screen is easier to see, and it works well with the blind-spot warning system to give the driver important information. The old screen was only 7 inches and had an image quality that was distorted. Kia’s technology to help you drive on the highway is great. It keeps the Telluride in its lane and speeds up and slows down easily, so there is no ping-ponging. Storage What’s going on with storage? When both seats are folded down, there are 87 cubes of space behind the third row and 21 cubes of space in front of it. There is both a big and attractive hatch entrance and a useful compartment under the floor. The Telluride can pull up to 5,000 pounds, which is the same as a class winner. One problem is that it takes more work to store small items. Even though there are a lot of ways to organize small things, there is a lot less room than in some competitors. Do you have little kids? The car seat anchors are easy to find, and the child safety seats fit firmly. Fuel Economy How much fuel does it use? The all-wheel-drive Telluride gets 20 miles per gallon combined, which is a little less than the average. The good news is that our test Telluride got about 23 mpg on our 115-mile mixed-driving route, which proves that the EPA’s predictions were accurate. Some competing SUVs need premium gas to keep the power and gas mileage numbers they boast, but the V6 can be driven on regular gas. Value Is the Telluride a great deal? The Telluride might be the best deal in its class for what you get. At each price point, you get a little more, whether it’s in the cabin, the ride, or the basic and optional features. Also, the top trimmings give it an almost luxurious look. We are pleased with Telluride’s quality as a whole. It also comes with Kia’s great 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain guarantee. Wildcard It looks like Kia was going for a “baby Land Rover” vibe, and they did a great job of it without making the Telluride look cheap. The Telluride is better than similar cars in terms of room, style, and fun to drive; it’s cheap luxury done right. What is Invoice Pricing's Recommendation? As of this writing, Kia hasn’t officially announced the 2025 Telluride. Based on last year’s Telluride, the SX trim is the best deal. If anything changes, we’ll let you know. It has a Harman Kardon sound system, a computerized collection of instruments, and adaptive cruise control. Styles of the Kia Telluride The Kia Telluride comes in five different models: the LX, the S, the EX, the SX, and the SX Prestige.
