• A big touring coupe from Citroën, the SM, grew out of the original DS.
  • Because they had Maserati speed, these cars were very fast. This one has a little more movement, which means it can grunt more.
  • It has been fixed up completely and is now ready for its new owner.

A 1973 Citroën SM That Has Been Fixed Up Nicely Is For Sale At Bring A Trailer

In 1955, Citroën introduced the DS, a sedan celebrated for its innovative and forward-thinking design. It is still a surprise to drive. It featured numerous new technologies, beautiful designs both inside and out, and a ride as smooth as a cloud. The car got the name “déesse,” which is the French word for goddess, after its letters were read out loud. By 1968, Citroën had bought Maserati and was about to release France’s best grand tourer, even though it didn’t have any special engines.

This day’s Pick of the Day is a 1973 Citroën SM that has been updated with a number of changes that make it an even better car for drivers. This stunningly unique coupe was designed by the French automobile genius Robert Opron. It has a tail that gets shorter toward the back. It resembles a stopped spaceship when at rest, as it’s positioned low on its hydropneumatic suspension. It looks like it could have easily sailed up to the Andor wedding party.

Some people might want to set up a table and chairs, pour themselves a glass of Bordeaux, and look at this car’s sharp edges. Put down the wine and get that Maserati V-6 engine going while sitting in the tobacco leather seats. Many theories exist about the meaning behind the two letters “SM,” but judging by its driving experience, it could well stand for Sublime Movement.

The SM initially came equipped with a 2.7-liter engine producing roughly 170 horsepower. Even though the engine required a certain rpm to reach its maximum speed, this was more than enough at the time. That’s how much power this triple-Weber V-6 engine with a size of just over 3.1 liters has been bored and stroked to make 215 horsepower and, more importantly, 239 pound-feet of torque. A smooth shove improves the experience of driving a GT. It comes equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox.
