Since its first release, the air-cooled Porsche 911 has been resto-modding in almost every way imaginable. Since remaking the 912 in 2023, Hungarian company KAMM has been trying to prevent people from becoming less interested in four-cylinder engines. As a base, a 1968 Targa roadster with soft windows was used to build the new 912c. In the end, they made a drop-top that is beautiful, bright, lighter, and faster than stock.

A Porsche With 185 Horsepower Can Sell For $400,000 If It Looks This Good

A soft-window Targa is what KAMM’s founder, Miklós Kázmér, thinks is the best form of the open-top 912. This is what their newest 912c is based on. As an option, Porsche made the Targa with a glass rear window in 1967. But besides the glass, this car doesn’t have many parts that still have the Porsche component number on them. The 912c’s body panels and Targa bar are made of carbon fiber to minimize weight because it was built to “Semi-Carbon” standards.  KAMM says the curb weight is “under 800 kilograms,” which is way below the legal limit of 1,764 pounds. The last 912c car that the boutique restaurant worked on weighed only 1,541 pounds altogether.

Windows made of Lexan are also lighter. The Targa should weigh more than the car, but at about 2,500 pounds, it should still make a Miata look big. This 912c comes with a surfboard and a roof rack, and the wheels are made of metal that looks like the steel wheels Porsche used in the 1960s. Tangerine, an orange color that goes well with the body, is used to cover the surfboard. It’s soft and beautiful.

In addition, the house is a lot more modern than it looks. There is more to this automobile than meets the eye. Like the original 912, the driver looks at a row of analog dials. The carbon fiber seats are covered in a pattern that looks like Vans slip-ons and is a mix of tobacco leather and Porsche Pasha fabric. KAMM, for instance, gave air conditioning and a high-quality sound system. Of course, we know that most of these traits can’t be seen. There is no tablet on the dashboard, but there are four air vents.

It has a 2.0-liter air-cooled flat-four engine that has been rebuilt and changed to make 185 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. In the first 912 Targa, a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine was used. It was based on the 356 and made about 90 horsepower and 98 pound-feet of torque. The 2.0’s back wheels are powered by a dog-leg five-speed manual gearbox with a ZF limited slip differential and a linkage made just for KAMM.

Even though the horsepower number isn’t very impressive, a car this light should have enough power to make the ride fun.

The price of the above 912c Targa is €395,000, which is about $407,000 in today’s money. KAMM says that if you want to start over when making your own restaurant, there are still building places open for 2025. From gearbox gearing (short, long, and touring) to paint color (there are a million options), fans have a lot of choices. You can get heated chairs.
