An Early Look At The Acura RSX Prototype's Beak Is Shown Off Before Its Big Show At Monterey Car Week

What similarities exist between the new Acura RSX electric SUV and the classic two-door Acura RSX hatchback? Apart from sharing a name and brand heritage, there’s little they have in common. That’s not necessarily a drawback, though—after all, Acura revived the Integra name and delivered a true Type S model. After launching its first electric vehicle, the mid-size ZDX crossover, Acura is now bringing back the iconic RSX name for its second fully electric model. Today, we caught our first glimpse of the RSX prototype’s sharply styled front end, ahead of its official unveiling at Monterey Car Week.

The ZDX is a reimagined version of the Chevrolet Blazer EV and Cadillac Lyriq, created through a partnership between Acura and General Motors. The new RSX, built on Acura’s first dedicated electric vehicle platform, is set to be the clearest expression yet of the brand’s Precision Crafted Performance philosophy. It will also come with Acura’s ASIMO OS operating system, which caught our attention when Honda showed off its 0-series samples at CES earlier this year. To put it simply, ASIMO integrates the car’s entertainment system with driver-assistance technology that can be upgraded remotely.

The latest sneak peek only shows the front end of the RSX prototype, but Acura has already hinted at the EV SUV with a camouflage cover. This gave us a good look at the back three-quarters of the RSX, which resembles a coupe due to the slightly sloped rear windshield. A small ducktail spoiler and a full-width taillight are two interesting features that stand out.

It’s also clear that the actual version of the RSX won’t look as crazy as the Performance EV Concept, which was used as a model. Even though the prototype’s face has a lot of angles and slit-like daytime running lights on either side of an illuminated Acura sign, it looks confident.

Building the final model will start in the second half of next year. Next week, the public will be able to see the RSX prototype. Both the 2027 Acura RSX and the four-door Integra are set to be built at Honda’s EV Hub in Ohio.
