• During the launch of the new Tonale, Alfa Romeo’s CEO stated that the current Giulia and Stelvio models will continue to be produced until 2026.
  • The two types are getting bigger to fill the gap until Alfa Romeo is ready to start making replacements.
  • Alfa is delaying the release of its next models so that they can have internal combustion engines.

Another Year Of Making More Alfa Romeo Giulia And Stelvio Cars

Alfa Romeo has sold the Giulia and Stelvio models in the US for ten years, and Santo Ficili, the CEO of the company, believes that both will remain available for at least another year. A new report from Motor1 states that Ficili said this at the launch of the updated Tonale subcompact SUV.

Instead of being added on the spot, the vehicles will fill the gap until Alfa is ready to use their replacements, which have been delayed and are now expected to arrive in 2027. The Giulia and Stelvio both utilize the same Giorgio platform, which was introduced ten years ago.

The delay is due to Alfa Romeo’s decision to deviate from its original plan for the second-generation versions of both cars, which were to have only electric powertrains. Like many other automakers, Alfa Romeo is protesting the current rate of EV adoption by returning to engines that use fuel, which it knows will be effective.

The current car and SUV models will be delayed by one year while Alfa Romeo switches to the STLA Large platform. The Giulia and Stelvio, which will have internal combustion engines, will be built on this platform. The base model is likely the same as the Dodge Charger Six Pack and features the same Hurricane twin-turbocharged inline-six engine. Alfa Romeo has also hinted that the Quadrifoglio cars may return in the future. Both of them would use Maserati’s current V-6 engine.
