• Maserati will no longer produce vehicles with V-8 engines, but before doing so, it will release two limited-edition models powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-8.
  • The Ghibli 334 Ultima is now capable of 208 miles per hour and comes in a striking shade of blue. Better tires are another feature.
  • Numerous carbon fibre components and unique emblems reveal that only 103 examples of the Levante V8 Ultima were produced.

The V-8 engine, formerly standard on Maserati’s sleek GranTurismo coupe, is no longer offered. Meanwhile, the sports car’s powertrain was either entirely electric or a twin-turbo V-6. This action signalled the conclusion of the V-8, and Maserati displayed two limited editions, the Ghibli 334 Ultima and the Levante V8 Ultima, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Will the Ghibli Ultima be the world’s fastest car?

The 2024 Ghibli 334 Ultima is the utmost expression of the company’s smallest vehicle. This model will be retired gradually. The V-8 is a mystery to us, but it is the 3.8-liter, 572-horsepower engine in the Trofeo model. The “334” in the model’s name alludes to the limited edition’s increased top speed from 203 to 208 kilometres per hour (208 miles per hour). According to the automaker, the Maserati Ghibli has surpassed the Bentley Flying Spur Speed as the world’s fastest automobile.

According to Maserati, the 334 Ultima can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds, which is 0.1 faster than the previous generation. The only information about the new tires is that they are “new performance tires created using a special compound.” Adding a carbon fibre trunk spoiler and 21-inch wheels should enhance aerodynamics.

The Scià di Persia colour scheme was inspired by the first street-legal V-8-powered Maserati, a 5000 GT customised in Blu Sera for the Shah of Persia in 1959. The 334 Ultima has a carbon fibre front bumper, side view mirrors, window pillars, and door handles, and the number “334” is painted in Rubino red on the front fender. In addition to the Maserati Trident symbol, the number “334” is sewn into the back of the Pale Terracotta leather seats.

Information on the top-tier Levante V8 Ultima

The 2024 Levante V8 Ultima has the same 572 hp twin-turbo V-8 and carbon fibre front and rear bumpers as the limited-edition Ghibli. Both “Blue Royale” and “Nero Assoluto” (pure black) will be available for the Levante. “V8 Ultima” will be written in Rubino on the front of the hood.

The V-8 SUV’s 22-inch alloys and Pale Terracotta leather seats with the “V8 Ultima” badge sewn into the rear remind me of the Ghibli. Both unique models feature a “una di 103” mark on the transmission tunnel between the seats, indicating that only 103 of each were produced.

Maserati will only produce 103 Ghiblis in each colour and 206 Levantes. While prices for the Ghibli Trofeo begin at $125,195 and the Levante Trofeo begins at $168,495, we anticipate that the Ultima variants will be far more expensive. However, we hope to get a better look when the Ultima versions are released later this year. Maserati has yet to provide photos of the completed vehicles.
