The 2026 Porsche 911 will feature the same all-wheel-drive 4S grade as the Targa, Carrera coupe, and Carrera cabriolet. This is because the new 4S cars feature a 473-hp twin-turbo flat-six engine, which is 30 more horsepower than the previous models. The Carrera 4S, Carrera 4S Cabriolet, and Targa 4S are priced at around $156,000, $170,000, and $171,000, respectively. Porsche has a reputation for causing trouble, which is fair. Based on science, it shouldn’t be possible to create so many different versions of the same car that they all appear to be distinct, but here we are. Starting with the 2026 model year, Porsche will bring back the all-wheel-drive 4S grade for the 911 Carrera coupe, Carrera cabriolet, and Targa. The new 4S models, like the rest of the Carrera S line, have the same 473-hp twin-turbo flat-six engine. Along with the engine, there is an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (PDK). There is no manual gearbox. Porsche claims that the new 4S can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds when equipped with the Sport Chrono package. We haven’t tried the current Carrera S, but the 4S will be even faster. During our tests, we were able to accelerate the 388-hp base Carrera from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds. All 4S variants equipped with Porsche’s Traction Management (PTM) system are designed to default to a rear-biased torque distribution. However, more power can be sent to the front axle if needed. The front differentials of the new 4S cars feature an electromechanical clutch and are cooled by water, just like those of their predecessors. Similar to the other models in the Carrera S lineup, the new 4S versions incorporate components from the previous generation of GTS vehicles. This includes incorporating the model’s improved brakes, sport-tuned exhaust, and upgraded springs. As expected, the preliminary prices position the 4S cars between the more expensive GTS models and the Carrera S models. The Carrera 4S car costs approximately $ 156,000, the Carrera 4S cabriolet costs $ 170,000, and the Targa 4S costs $ 171,000. Since these prices haven’t been verified yet, Porsche has warned that they may change before the cars are delivered later this year.
