• After the Chevrolet Bolt comes back, GM plans to release a number of other cars that cost around $30,000.
  • That’s what General Motors president Mark Reuss said on the Plugged-In show.
  • Reuss says the new cars will be about the same size as the Bolt and cost a few thousand dollars less.

Based On The Bolt, Chevy Is Making A Whole Line Of Cheap Electric Vehicles

The official return date for the Chevrolet Bolt is set for the first quarter of 2026. GM already wants to add a cheap EV to the lineup. But the business doesn’t want to stop there. President of General Motors Mark Reuss recently said on the Plugged-In show of Inside EVs that Chevy is working on a “family” of cheap EVs to go along with the Bolt.

Last year, Reuss first talked about the “family of Bolts” at an event for investors. Reuss stated that future models, regardless of whether they carry the Bolt name, will consist of a range of affordable vehicles. He said that the new ones would be “about the same size and cost.”

Chevy seems determined to add more reasonably priced electric vehicles to its lineup. We’ll likely see something similar to the Bolt EUV, which was taken off the market in 2023 because it had a longer length. “Plus or minus,” Reuss said, starting with the revived Bolt, a range of small EVs will cost at least $30,000, possibly including a car.

GM’s EV lineup now has a wider range of prices than most others, but Reuss said that the company wants to focus on making more low-cost, high-volume models. It was Reuss’s main goal to fill the “white spaces” in the EV market, which still has electric cars for people who can’t spend $50,000 or more.
