Stellantis and BMW are offering discounts to people who buy electric cars. The automakers are copying the EPA tax benefit for electric and plug-in hybrid cars, which has since been eliminated. BMW will reimburse you until the end of October, but you will only be able to use the Stellantis service as long as supplies last. A Stellantis representative stated that the company is taking advantage of tax breaks offered by the government. A Stellantis official stated that the company is offering additional cash incentives on electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles in its inventory. Between when the Trump administration announced that the $ 7,500 federal EV tax credit would end and when it actually ended on September 30, sales of EVs increased significantly. Automakers made money by giving people who weren’t sure if they wanted to buy an electric car a firm date to make up their minds. Despite this, automakers are now forced to sell electric cars to people who don’t want to pay more when federal aid ends. By copying the deal, BMW and Stellantis are putting off, at least briefly, the rising costs. An Electrek story reports that Stellantis has announced it will utilize the EPA program for all of its electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. It has the Chrysler Pacifica, the Alfa Romeo Tonale, the Dodge Charger Daytona, the Dodge Hornet R/T, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe, the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, and the Jeep Wagoneer S. The Electrek story says that the credit can only be used for models that are in stock at the moment, and it could end at any time. For instance, BMW is lowering the MSRP of all of its fully electric cars by $7,500. But the company isn’t as generous with its plug-in options. The 750e xDrive PHEV sedan from BMW is qualified for a $5,000 price cut, but the 550e and X5 xDrive50e are not. A BMW spokesman confirmed that the deal is only available on cars financed through BMW Financial Services and not on leased cars. However, when Invoice-pricing asked for a more detailed answer, the spokesperson refused at this time. To receive a refund, customers must have their cars delivered by November 1. Customers must receive the Stellantis deal by November 3, but they have a little more time to do so.
