The famous Nürburgring Nordschleife appears to have been conquered by the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. A teaser says we will soon find out how long it took. A video posted on Corvette’s official Instagram account features a yellow Corvette with the ZTK package racing around the track at high speed. That’s what it says: “Fast as green hell.” A recent online report from earlier this month suggested that Chevrolet may present the Corvette at several official events. The story says that the company tested a lot of Corvettes at the “Ring” not long ago. The Nürburgring Nordschleife is 12.9 miles long. Will the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 be the fastest production car ever made in the United States to go around it? A new teaser video on the Corvette’s official Instagram account says we’ll soon find out. The picture shows a yellow car with the optional ZTK performance package roaring down a straight part of the famous German racetrack. As it approaches a tight left-hand corner, it stops and downshifts. The huge rear wing makes it easy to spot. The title of the video says, “Fast as green hell.” It’s unclear whether the Vette in the movie is the 1064-hp ZR1 or the 1250-hp hybrid all-wheel-drive ZR1X. Earlier this month, CorvetteBlogger said that the bow-tie brand was seen passing a number of production cars at the ‘Ring. These cars included the ZR1, ZR1X, and Z06 so that Chevy may have lap times for all three models. It’s also important to note that Chevrolet has not yet released an official lap time for a Corvette from the C7 or C8 generations. The Ford Mustang GTD set an official lap time of 6:52.072 earlier this year, making it the fastest American production car to lap the ‘Ring and the sixth-fastest production car overall. The Corvette wants to beat that time. There are faster cars that the ZR1 and/or ZR1X have to deal with. These are the Mercedes-AMG Black Series (6:48.047), the Porsche 911 GT3 RS (6:49.328), and the Porsche 991 GT2 RS with the Manthey Performance upgrade (6:43.300). With a time of 6 minutes and 29 seconds, the Mercedes-AMG One is officially the fastest production car. That makes no sense. It’s important to note, though, that Chevy released the peek on June 28 (also written as June 28). Is this just an accident, or could it be a sign? Watch out.
