The 2025 Chevrolet Suburban SUV has one of the oldest model names, so there is little that can be done to change it. Even though it has some small changes, it’s still big and boxy—like the Tahoe but with a longer wheelbase. One of the improvements is a better diesel choice, and the inside has been redone.

The front fascias of all six trim versions of the Suburban have been updated to have smaller DRLs. Premier and High Country Suburbans come with cool walk-up and walk-away light effects as standard. You will also be able to get Chevrolet’s two new exterior colors, Lakeshore Blue Metallic and Cypress Gray. Lastly, new 24-inch wheels can be added to the RST and High Country models if you want to.

Do you need a new suspension, a new interior, and fixes for the 2025 Chevy Suburban?

We gave the inside of the current Suburban a “just OK” grade. The good news is that changes have been made to the cabin for 2025 to keep it competitive. The usual 17.7-inch infotainment screen is slightly tilted toward the driver to make it easier to use. The High Country trim is the first Suburban to have real wood in it. Other firsts include red stitching on RST models, piano black and Galvano chrome finishes on some trims, and a moved wireless charging point to make things easier.

When we drove the Suburban, we didn’t like how heavy its suspension was, but we did like how quickly it moved. The multilink independent rear suspension has been changed to improve the handling and ride quality, so these two areas should improve. For the first time, the RST trim level comes with Air Ride Adaptive Suspension. Also, Magnetic Ride Control has been updated to add new features. The redesigned Suburban should be more comfy and work better all around. It now handles better, which gives the driver more trust.

Most of the powertrains have stayed the same. On the RST, Z71, and Premier trims, the 6.2-liter V-8 engine is a choice. On the LS, LT, RST, and Premier trims, it is standard, but not on the High Country. The old engine, which made 277 horsepower, has been replaced by a new second-generation 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel engine that makes 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque. This comes standard on all six trim levels, even the very first Z71. Also, it can weigh up to 8,200 pounds.

You can still get Super Cruise, but now you can use it with the LT and RST trims along with the Premier and High Country trims. The AutoSense Power Liftgate will now open when it sees a nearby key fob, so you don’t have to kick your foot under the rear bumper. Chevy hasn’t said how much the 2025 Suburban will cost yet, but we’ll know more when the updated SUV goes on sale at the end of next year.
