Even though this is just a mid-cycle update, the 2024 Porsche Cayenne is very different from the model from the year before. Two of the changes are better screens and adding the Porsche Driver Experience, which makes it easier for the driver to handle things used often. The powertrain lineup has also grown. The E-Hybrid now has a 174-hp electric motor, taking the total output to 463 hp, and the Cayenne S has a turbo V-8. This summer, the 2024 Cayenne will start appearing in American car lots. Some mid-cycle changes don’t make a big splash. For example, new paint schemes or wheel designs can be added without changing the basic recipe. This group does not include the Porsche Cayenne 2024. In this case, Porsche completely redesigned its mid-size SUV, and the effects are pretty interesting. As Fresh As Death From The Inside Out In 2024, there will be a lot of changes to the Cayenne’s trunk. The old dashboard has been changed with a new one that looks more like the Taycan and has more screens. Since the gear selector is now positioned on the dashboard, the physical climate controls that are located on top of the transmission tunnel have been given additional space in which to operate. The 12.6-inch fully digital gauge panel, which used to be primarily analog, can be upgraded with an optional head-up display. The usual 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen can run the latest version of Porsche’s Communication Management software, which has Spotify and Apple Music built-in. It can send video while moving, but Porsche says that a particular layer on the screen keeps the driver from sneaking a look. You can get a 10.9-inch touchscreen that gives each person their spot to leave fingerprints. The changes to the outside of the 2024 Cayenne are less significant. A new hood sits in front of remade headlights. The bumper has been changed to let in more air. Also, the front bumpers are getting stronger. Because the long roof back fascia was changed, the license plate is now lower and more like the one on the coupe. The taillights on both cars are also updated in small ways. Algarve Blue Metallic, Montego Blue Metallic, and Arctic Grey are the three new paint colors that finish the changes. More powerful engines The 2024 Cayenne’s powertrains have been worked on a lot, as we discovered during our test drive in January. The turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 in the base Cayenne makes 348 horsepower and 368 pound-feet of torque. When compared to the previous generation, this represents an increase of 13 horsepower and 36 pound-feet of torque. According to Porsche, the base model Cayenne S can drive from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.4 seconds. This is accomplished by replacing the base model’s twin-turbo 2.9-liter V-6 with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 that is capable of producing 468 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. The Cayenne Turbo GT, only available as a hatchback, is also based on the twin-turbo V-8. In 2024, it will get an extra 19 horsepower, bringing its impressive power to 650 horsepower and going from 0 to 60 mph in only 3.1 seconds. The base transmission has eight speeds, just like before. The Cayenne E-Hybrid plug-in was made for people who care more about the environment. The electric motor now has 174 horsepower, more than the previous generation’s 134 horsepower. The battery’s functional capacity has increased from about 14.3 kWh to an estimated 20.6 kWh. Even though the EPA has yet to release its estimates for 2024, this should make a big difference for the current model, whose range is expected to be 17 miles. The standard onboard charger in 2023 cars, which is 3.6 kW, will be replaced with a new 11.0 kW unit, which will be very helpful. The net output of the E-Hybrid goes up from 455 horsepower to 464 horsepower, which is better. Changes to the frame But that’s not all! The base wheels of the Cayenne grow from 19 inches in diameter to 20 inches in diameter. This makes the contact patch bigger and improves mechanical grip. In our January ride, we said, “The prototypes stuck to the road like Velcro, but they mostly filtered out the worst [road] textures.” The base Cayenne now comes with Porsche’s PASM dampers, which have separate compression and return valves. The Turbo GT comes with an adjustable air suspension, a feature that can be added. Porsche also improved the balance by changing the rear torque vectoring and rear axle steering systems. Costs and Plans for Release When it sells this summer, the 2024 Porsche Cayenne will come in car and long roof styles. If you want to get a head start, you can place an order now. If you choose the average body shape, the regular Cayenne will cost you $80,850, the Cayenne E-Hybrid will cost you $93,350, and the Cayenne S will cost you $97,350. The base Cayenne car starts at $85,950, the E-Hybrid goes up to $97,350, and the Cayenne S goes up to $103,750. At $197,950, the Cayenne Turbo GT car costs a little more.
