Polestar’s 2023 Polestar 2 lineup now includes a limited-edition BST edition 230. The BEST edition 230, which has 469 horsepower, has the same changes to the chassis as the BEST edition 270, which came out before it. Europe and North America will only be able to get 230 copies of the new BST edition. Polestar showed off a second performance-inspired limited-edition BST, betting that customers will be okay with that there aren’t any significant changes. A standard Polestar 2 with the Performance pack might be quick off the line, but it’s not a thoroughbred racer. This has been fixed in BST edition 230, but in the same way that BST edition 270 did before. In June of last year, the company that made the Polestar 2 showed off a high-performance version of the car. The special edition would be called BST edition 270, and there would only be 270 of them available worldwide. Even though it has a different chassis and more power, this 2 costs much more than other versions. Polestar says the BEST edition 230 “focuses more on details that improve performance.” Space Black and a brand-new, one-of-a-kind color called Green Nebula are the two color options for the Edition 230. You can add a full-length racing stripe to either exterior paint color you choose. Micro suede is used to finish interior design pieces, and recycled nubuck leather is used to make steering wheel inserts. The standard dual-motor configuration of the BST edition 230 receives an increase of 67 horsepower and 15 pound-feet of torque from the BST edition 230, bringing the total to 469 horsepower and 502 pound-feet. With those numbers, the new edition was the same as the BEST edition 270 from the year before, which had the same numbers. Some requirements are different. Under the bodies of the two BST editions, the changes to the chassis are the same. Both cars’ ride heights have been lowered almost an inch from before. In addition, the springs used in the suspension have been made 20% more rigid, and a front strut bar has been added. Along with the Pirelli P Zero tires, which Polestar says were made just for the BEST editions, the tuned Ohlin’s dampers from edition 270 have been moved to edition 230. In other words, they are both the same car. People who bought a limited-edition Polestar 2 BST edition 270 might be upset that the number of cars being made has doubled since they purchased theirs. (This has happened before in the world of collector’s editions.) The starting price of the new Edition 230 is $80,900, which is $4000 more than the price of the last model.
