Since Ford showed off the sixth-generation Bronco for 2021, there has been talk that it will finally outsell the Jeep Wrangler. For more than 20 years, the Wrangler was the only 4×4 that could be turned into a convertible and had doors that could be taken off. The Bronco broke that record, and the Blue Oval off-roader has already beaten its previous year-long record of 117,057 units set in 2022, thanks to a 39.62% rise in sales so far this year. Ford sold 109,921 Broncos, and Jeep sold 128,054 Wranglers through the third quarter of 2025. Naturally, this leaves a space of 18,133 units. But when you think about how the Wrangler sold over 42,000 more cars than the Bronco last year, the balance starts to lean toward Ford. One more thing that makes the problem even clearer is that low-spec Wranglers can be rented at almost every rental car company, and that almost all Broncos are sold to individuals, not groups. According to a Ford representative, the Bronco is still the best-selling product in its class at stores. Ford, on the other hand, released new figures showing that 121,171 Broncos were sold in October. It’s only been two months, but you’ve already broken your old record by 4,000 units. Due to competition from Ford and Toyota, Wrangler sales have dropped significantly since the start of the JL-generation model year. About 90,000 fewer Wranglers were sold last year than during its peak, when it had 240,032 sales in its first full year of production. Ford isn’t expected to make that much progress in Q4, so that Jeep will stay on top for at least another year. But since more people are buying Broncos than Wranglers with their own money, it’s worth noting that the gap is narrowing. Fleets will still be maintaining Jeeps for a while, but the Bronco will do better than the standard four-wheeler before the JL generation is phased out.
