Ford says the Maverick Hybrid, F-150 Hybrid, F-150 Lightning, and Super Duty are the trucks currently serving US markets that the Ranger versions would compete against. Ford only sells the Ranger in most European markets, so it makes sense to add more flexible models to the global collection. It always hurts to want something you can’t have, whether it’s a car model that won’t be sold in the US or a food item that your favorite restaurant no longer makes. Ford has said that neither of its new, famous mid-size trucks will be sold in the United States when they come to market. Therefore, Ford’s Ranger plug-in hybrid and Ranger Super Duty trucks may now be officially added to the latter list. Even though Ford has never said that either model will be sold in the US, there are always reports about it, so this isn’t new information. Ford’s current domestic lineup of hybrid and electric pickups makes the Ranger PHEV less likely of the two models to be sold in the US. This is despite many manufacturers changing their focus from fully battery-electric vehicles to plug-in hybrids as a better option in today’s automotive environment. Ford said at a recent press meeting that this is the main reason why there isn’t a PHEV version of the American Ranger. The business also said that the Maverick and F-150 hybrids, as well as the F-150 Lightning electric truck, would be good options for people considering the Ranger PHEV. The same thing goes for the Ranger Super Duty. The company says the heavy-duty, half-ton F-Series Super Duty and F-150 already offer buyers capable work trucks better suited to the American market. Rumors said the Ranger Super Duty might come to the US after a test car was spotted in Michigan, but those rumors can now be dismissed. US customers have a lot of different Ford pickup trucks to choose from, but the Ranger is the only one offered in other countries; it’s also the best-selling truck in 21 of the 180 markets where it’s sold. A lot of those markets don’t have many pickup trucks available, so it makes sense for Blue Oval to offer more types of cars in places where there aren’t any other choices.
