With an 800-volt base, the 2026 Polestar 3 features a completely new electrical system that enables faster charging. A new rear motor has given the most powerful version of the small luxury EV SUV 671 horsepower. This makes all three cars more powerful. Polestar hasn’t announced the pricing of the cars yet, and we’re still awaiting confirmation from the company regarding the US-spec models. For the 2026 model year, the Polestar 3 has undergone significant improvements since its introduction in 2025. The electric compact luxury SUV clearly moves up from a 400-volt platform to an 800-volt system, which offers perks such as faster charging. The Polestar 3 can now be charged at up to 350 kW using the 800V method. Polestar claims it takes approximately 22 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%, which is 25% faster than before. The standard 11-kW onboard charger remains unchanged. The 2026 models feature lithium-ion packs instead of the previous nickel-magnesium-cobalt batteries, which are more efficient and offer an expected driving range of up to 315 miles. Of course, we are still waiting for the official EPA scores. A new rear electric motor, manufactured in the United States, provides each Polestar 3 with more speed than its predecessor. The names have also been changed to Performance, Dual Motor, and Rear Motor. It used to make 295 horsepower and 351 pound-feet of torque, but now it makes 329 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. From 483 to 536 horsepower and 620 to 546 pound-feet of torque, the Dual Motor can now do more. In the end, the Performance’s torque decreases from 671 pound-feet to 642 pound-feet, but its horsepower increases from 510 to 671. Since the Performance only needs 3.8 seconds to reach 60 mph instead of 4.5 ticks, Polestar thinks that every three will be faster. Our test car, the 2025 model with the most powerful engine, went from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds. The new model should be even faster. Polestar states that all-wheel-drive cars can now automatically disengage their front motors, thereby increasing their range and fuel economy. The steering and anti-roll bars on the three have been modified to improve driving ease. Polestar claims the new computer engine is eight times more powerful than the previous ones and is one of the most significant changes for 2026. It’s smart of the company to say that it can add this new gear to cars made in 2025. At the moment, only the 2026 Polestar 3 has all of these abilities. It can be purchased elsewhere. A Polestar representative told Invoice-pricing that more details about the North American range would be shared later. Prices for the future will also be released soon. Before choices, 2025 models range from $68,900 to $86,300.
