Ineos Just Dropped A Safari-Spec Grenadier With The Roof Cut Off

Kavango Engineering, based in Botswana, has extensive experience with safari conversions. The business has spent many years modifying Land Rover Defenders and Toyota Land Cruisers to enable them to be used to view wildlife in difficult areas. Ineos, which makes off-road vehicles, bought Kavango Engineering two years ago and used its knowledge to help the company. Soon, everyone who goes on safari will see the benefits of this kind of work.

The first examples of the Grenadier Game Viewer could be released as early as next month. The Game Viewer is basically a long- or extra-long-wheelbase Grenadier with the roof taken off. It can hold up to nine people. The back seats are raised in a stadium-style seating so everyone can see the elephants and giraffes.

The Game Viewer goes perfectly with the original Grenadier. This is because the creator, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, chose to keep making Defenders with an old design rather than make a new one that captures what he thinks a Defender should be. For decades, Land Rovers have been used to take people into Africa’s wilderness areas, first as hunters and explorers and later as tourists and members of game reserve management teams. It makes sense to build a Grenadier to do this.

Using knowledge from Botswana is the best approach. In 2022, Kavango built the first Grenadier that was ready for safaris. Starting next month, four Game Viewers will be sent to Hidden Lodge, which is a fancy getaway in the Eastern Cape of South Africa’s wilderness.

The original Game Viewer had a right-weight cloth top that rolled back when not in use and a little more space between the wheels and the body than the Grenadier. Moving the Grenadier’s big overhead switchgear to the middle of the console was the hardest part of the change.

People who buy Game Viewer safari machines, which can fit 4 to 9 people, have many ways to make them their own. Right now, Kavango can build up to 200 safari add-ons each year. These add-ons can be used on a wide range of cars for purposes ranging from veterinary care to stopping poaching.

The Game Viewer is special because the standard Ineos Grenadier guarantee covers it. It is the perfect ready-made answer for businesses that run lodges and safaris. Also, the Game Viewer marks the beginning of the Grenadier story because Sir Ratcliffe came up with the idea for his uncompromising SUV while on safari in Botswana. It can be called a life cycle.
