• Kia says it is developing an electric pickup truck for North American markets.
  • The mid-size Tasman, which will only be sold abroad, will be the Korean automaker’s second truck following the new EV.
  • Kia aims to have 15 EVs and 10 hybrids by 2030, with plans to deliver five new models this year.

Despite the current uncertainty over auto tariffs, Kia is pressing forward with its future plans, which include selling a pickup in America for the first time. When the Korean automaker unveiled the new truck at its annual Investor Day, it also outlined its 10-year targets.

Kia's Next Electric Pickup Truck Will Be Available In The U.S.

America’s Kia Truck

Kia’s upcoming electric pickup truck will be the company’s second cargo-bed-toting vehicle but the first to be launched in our country. Despite being available only for purchase overseas, the Kia Tasman generated significant interest before its global premiere last October. However, Kia aims to build on the success of the Tasman, which is expected to sell 80,000 units each year.

Other than the fact that it will be based on a new EV platform, we don’t know much about Kia’s future pickup. According to rumors, Kia CEO Ho Sung Song has claimed that the business intends to introduce a mid-size vehicle to the United States, which appears to have higher off-road capabilities than the Hyundai Santa Cruz. According to marketing jargon, Kia’s next electric vehicle will have “best-in-class interior and cargo space” as well as a “robust towing system.” All of this is subject to change, but Kia maintains that the ultimate goal is to sell 90,000 units of the new electric vehicle every year. All we have to do now is wait for it to go on sale.
