Starting July 30, Lucid Air cars equipped with DreamDrive Pro will be eligible for a free over-the-air update. With the update, drivers can now change lanes without using their hands as long as they have the turn signal on. This year, the Lucid Gravity SUV will also receive the same push update. A big improvement to Lucid’s technology for helping drivers has been revealed. People who own Air cars with the extra DreamDrive Pro package will be able to use a new hands-free mode starting July 30, thanks to an over-the-air update. The over-the-air (OTA) update will let the car change lanes for you and add what Lucid calls “Hands-Free Drive Assist.” This feature utilizes the car’s LIDAR, radar, visible light cameras, surround-view cameras, and ultrasonic sensors to enable autonomous driving on compatible roads. Of course, you’ll have to use the turn light to tell it to do that. “Our in-house software stack, a full suite of 32 sensors, and regular over-the-air (OTA) updates will allow us to continue giving our owners a lot more functionality in the future,” said Kai Stepper, Lucid’s ADAS and AD vice president. The hands-free version is free, but DreamDrive Pro must be installed on the Lucid Air first. This part costs a different amount for each 2025 model. The base rear-wheel-drive Pure form of the DreamDrive Pro costs $9250. This is in addition to the $71,400 price tag that comes with the $ 2,500 Comfort and Convenience package. It’s the same with the air’s all-wheel-drive Touring trim level, which starts at $80,400; DreamDrive Pro and Co. costs $9750. The Grand Touring AWD starts at $112,400, while the DreamDrive Pro costs $6750 on its own. The most expensive Sapphire, which starts at $250,500, comes with DreamDrive Pro already installed. The Gravity SUV will also be eligible for the free over-the-air update, but Lucid hasn’t specified when it will be ready. The business did say that it would be out later this year, though.
