As the US is set to lose its EV tax breaks, Mercedes-Benz is reducing the cost of all its EQ EVs. Prices for the EQS range from $4,150 for the car to $15,300 for the SUV in model years 2025 and 2026. Mercedes also plans to stop making its EQ models in the US before the September 30 deadline for the EV tax credit. This is in addition to lowering the prices of these models. A Mercedes-Benz official recently made some comments about invoice-pricing, which are included in this story. As the likelihood of the US not offering EV tax breaks increases, Mercedes-Benz is holding a fire sale on its electric cars in the country. The company is lowering prices significantly for the 2026 model year because its egg-shaped electric vehicles aren’t selling very well. Between the 2025 and 2026 model years, prices across the EQ lineup saw notable reductions. Both the SUV and the sedan, previously priced at $76,050, now start at $66,100. While most price adjustments were modest, the EQS sedan experienced a slight decrease from $105,550 to $101,400. In contrast, the EQS SUV saw a substantial cut, dropping from $106,400 to $91,100. Mercedes’ EV sales have been slow, and the government has moved the deadline for the EV tax credit from the end of the year to September 30. As a result, the company is taking bolder steps than just lowering prices.
