• Porsche announced that owners of its electric vehicles can now charge their batteries using Tesla Superchargers.
  • A free CCS-to-NACS adapter will be sent to owners of Porsche EVs made in 2025 and 2026.
  • Users must first use the Tesla app in order to start charging. In the coming months, however, the My Porsche app will also work.

Porsche EVs Can Now Use Tesla's Huge Network Of Superchargers

Each company makes its own gear choices, climate control systems, and seat position adjusters. However, the NACS-style charge connector, which was first made by Tesla and is now found in almost all new EVs, has been chosen by the vast majority of the industry to charge electric cars. Porsche announced that its latest electric vehicles will soon feature the NACS charging port.

Starting September 9, Porsche customers will also be able to use Tesla’s huge network of Superchargers. Porsche refers to this as a “soft launch,” which means drivers will still rely on the Tesla app on their phones to operate and access the chargers. The German car company says that in the next few months, it will add the My Porsche app or an easier “plug-and-charge” method to Supercharger stations.

Porsche had said that the NACS port would be added to its EVs in 2025, but the 2026 Cayenne Electric, which will be available next year, will be the first Porsche EV with one. People who drive EVs with the old CCS-style connection can get a CCS-to-NACS adaptor from Porsche. Porsche announced that 2025 model year EV owners will receive a free adapter, while all new 2026 Taycan and Macan EVs will come with a complimentary Porsche NACS DC charger.

When owners can make plans for a free NACS adaptor, they will be notified through the My Porsche app. The NACS extender can be purchased for $185 starting today by drivers of Taycans from the 2024 model year and earlier.

Porsche believes this move will expand access for EV owners to an additional 23,500 charging stations. Using the adapter, Porsche EV drivers will also be able to charge at NACS stations operated by networks such as Electrify America and Ionna, all of which can be located through the My Porsche app.
