The 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger plug-in hybrid will be sold after the electric Ram 1500 REV. It will be out later this year. Ram states that the decision was based on higher demand for PHEVs and lower demand for EV pickup trucks. The REV is planned to be sold in 2026, and the Ramcharger in the second half of 2025. The company is evaluating Ram’s first electric pickup truck. Originally, the Ram 1500 REV was planned to go on sale in the first half of 2025. However, the truck company has now decided to focus on making the Ram 1500 Ramcharger its first plug-in hybrid pickup. This model will do better than the EV and fill its production spot. Ram said that in December 2024, it changed its original plan. Along with the shrinking market for electric trucks, the Ramcharger, which uses a gas engine to charge its battery and thus gets rid of the range anxiety that some customers feel when they own an EV, was also cited as a reason for the company’s choice. Additionally, the Ramcharger is less prone to issues when towing with an electric truck. The bigger 229.0-kWh battery in the REV is said to give it a range of up to 500 miles, but this has not been officially proven yet. A 350-kW DC fast charger is reported to add 110 miles of range in just ten minutes. Of course, doubters will say that it will take less time to fill up the Ramcharger’s gas tank. We don’t know how much either of Ram’s electric trucks will cost, but the all-electric truck will be more expensive. Ram’s new plan calls for the 1500 REV to hit the market in 2026 and the Charger to follow in the second half of 2025. The Ram plant in Sterling Heights, Michigan, will produce these two vehicles alongside the rest of the brand’s half-ton lineup.
