With its 777-hp boosted V-8 engine, the new Ram TRX is once again the most powerful half-ton pickup truck in the world. Ram’s widebody supertruck features a long-travel suspension and 35-inch off-road tires, and its interior can rival some high-end cars. Starting at $102,590, the 2027 Ram 1500 SRT TRX will come out in the second half of 2026. When Ram ended the TRX after the 2024 model year, the world lost one of the best off-road trucks ever sold with a factory guarantee. At the same time, the company let its biggest competitor go without any competition. When the Ram TRX is released later this year, it will have 777 horsepower and take the title of most powerful half-ton truck from the 720-horsepower Ford F-150 Raptor R. The reborn TRX looks almost identical to its former self. It has some changes, like those that were recently made to the rest of the Ram 1500 series. At the same time, the dino-themed truck’s first edition, Bloodshot Night, features a two-tone look with a flame-red stripe on the hood and a hand-painted black top half, as seen below. There is now a T. Rex head on the TRX sign on the tailgate, and all TRX models have a RAM grill badge with a red outline. The Street and Racing Technology performance division was quietly shut down years ago, but kept SRT badges on several Dodge cars, like the current Hellcat-powered Durango. With the relaunch of Ram’s supertruck, the division is now back in business. But there haven’t been any trucks with the name since the Ram SRT-10. The 2027 Ram 1500 SRT TRX changes everything about that. Even though it has a long name, it lives up to the promise that it will be much more powerful than the last one. Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis says that the truck’s Hemi V-8 is more than just a larger 6.2-liter engine. It’s not that; it’s a new version with the company’s orange and red engine blocks, better engine management, and Direct Connection, which links to Mopar’s factory-backed performance parts. A 2.4-liter turbocharger delivers 777 horsepower and 680 pound-feet of torque to the new TRX. An improved eight-speed automatic engine sends power to all four wheels. Ram says the TRX with the SRT badge will go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds, which is a full second faster than the expected time for the last truck. The 702-hp 2021 TRX reached 60 mph in 3.7 seconds during our test. This suggests that the next version should be even faster. Its top speed is still 118 mph. Once more, the TRX has a stronger frame and 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory all-terrain tires. Ram’s long-travel suspension features the latest version of its adjustable Bilstein Black Hawk e2 dampers, and a five-link coil-spring system handles the solid rear axle. The truck’s beadlock-equipped 18-inch wheels can still keep the off-road tires in place. The truck’s approach, breakover, and exit angles are all better than they were before, and the ground clearance is 11.8 inches again. The new TRX’s interior is even more luxurious, with a full microsuede ceiling and a leather-covered steering wheel. The carbon fiber is real, and there is leather on the dash and other areas. The driver can now see a 12.3-inch digital gauge panel and a head-up display. The new 14.5-inch tablet with Uconnect 5 software controls the normal 19-speaker Harman Kardon stereo. For the first time, the TRX lets you drive without using your hands on roads where this is possible. The 2027 Ram 1500 SRT TRX is expected to be available in stores this year in the second half of the year. It will cost at least $102,590, which is about $10,000 less than the Ford F-150 Raptor R’s present starting price of $113,525. The TRX Bloodshot Night Edition could be better than the R-rated Raptor, but Ram still hasn’t said how much it will cost.
