According to a report from Mopar Insiders, Ram is preparing to introduce a new V-8-powered TRX for the 2026 model year. The new TRX will have a lot more power than the old one. It will have an engine from Dodge’s Hellcat Redeye cars that is expected to make 797 horsepower. Speculation has been widespread regarding the possible reintroduction of the V-8 engine to Ram’s 1500 lineup, which currently consists solely of six-cylinder options. These rumors gained traction following Tim Kuniskis’s return as Ram’s CEO last year. There were rumors late last week that the Ram 1500 TRX would be back. The claim that Ram would return to the NASCAR Truck Series was based on a supposed message sent by Sportsnaut to Dodge shops about the future plans for Stellantis brands. Rumor has it that the TRX is coming back, and Mopar Insiders says that its sources have confirmed this. The new TRX will have the Hemi V-8 engine. Ram changed the look of their 1500 pickup trucks in 2025, and the V-8 engine was swapped out for the Hurricane twin-turbocharged inline-six. Ram also showed off the 1500 RHO, a new off-road performance car that is similar to the TRX in many ways. The six-cylinder engine doesn’t have nearly as much power as the TRX’s 702 horsepower, but the RHO’s 540 horsepower is more than enough. Another difference is that the supercharged 6.2-liter engine in the TRX sounds better than the inline-six. A report from Mopar Insiders says that the V-8 will be back and will be even stronger than before. The exact power output of the new TRX is unknown, but reports say it will either get a little more power, to about 717 horsepower, or, more interestingly, use leftover Hellcat Redeye motors that have been gathered, which could give it 797 horsepower. The updated TRX should be ready for the 2026 model year, maybe at the same time as more V-8 Ram trucks. The graphic shows that the 5.7-liter and 6.4-liter Hemi V-8s will be put back in the 1500 lineup. This has been expected to happen since Tim Kuniskis became CEO of Ram in December, but we can’t confirm that the hacked email that Sportsnaut shared is real. The Jeep Cherokee will be brought back to life in October as a 2026 model with a hybrid engine. The picture also shows that the electric Jeep Recon will come out in the fourth quarter of this year. Other clues include the last year for the old Dodge Durango SUV and the release of a fast GLH model for the Hornet crossover, which was originally planned for 2023. It’s unclear how much of this will actually happen, but the American Stellantis brand stable will have a busy year.
