The Rivian delivery van, officially known as the Rivian Commercial Van (RCV), is now available for order by fleets of all sizes. The shift in the business model follows a four-year period of exclusivity with Amazon, which concluded in November 2023, at which point Rivian began expanding its sales to include other customers. Now, standard businesses have the opportunity to purchase the RCV for any fleet size, even if it consists of just a single vehicle, with pricing beginning at $82,900. Amazon has been using the same Rivian cars since 2019, and now small business owners across the country can buy them and use them for delivery. Even though there is no longer a minimum buy amount, the automaker still only sells vans to businesses. The transport van, which is now called the Rivian Commercial Van (RCV), was made by Rivian in 2019. The comment was made in connection with a deal made with Amazon to buy 100,000 vans. As part of the deal with Amazon, Rivian could only sell the van to Amazon for four years. When Rivian started selling to other businesses in 2023, the customers who bought a lot of things were no longer the only ones who could do so. Rivian is now taking orders from businesses of all kinds. Does your small business only need one van? That’s fine. The RCV can be set up in two different ways: Delivery 500 and Delivery 700. The 500 is the less expensive one. The gross vehicle weight limit (GVWR) is 9500 pounds, and it can carry up to 2663 pounds. It can also store 487 cubic feet of things. The 700 is a little bigger and longer. The cargo space goes up to 652 cubic feet, but the payload goes down to 2258 pounds, and the GVWR stays the same at 9500 pounds. The two engines are the same. The front axle has a single motor that makes 320 horsepower and 299 pound-feet of torque. The EPA’s range estimates are almost the same, but the smaller 500’s 161-mile prediction is one mile better than the bigger 500’s. Documents from Rivian say that the most power that normal AC charging can handle is 11 kW, while DC charging can handle up to 100 kW. On Rivian’s website, you can now ask about fleets. The smaller van costs at least $82,900, and the bigger van costs at least $86,900.
