• Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, is said to have demanded that all potential customers see the company’s Full Self-Driving mode.
  • The rules say that Tesla employees in North America must install, start, and go for a short test ride with the newest FSD software.
  • Reports say Musk said that the method is necessary at all costs, even if it takes longer to deliver.

In North America, everyone who buys a new Tesla will have to watch a film showing the company’s fully autonomous driving skills. CEO Elon Musk is said to have told staff about the new policy in a recent email that Business Insider received and posted online.

Tesla has made new buyers watch a full demonstration of self-driving mode

Musk emails Tesla employees to load and turn on the latest version of FSD. This does not make the car self-driving; the driver still needs to pay attention to the road. On the Tesla website, FSD is listed as a $12,000 option. It now offers “autosteer” on city streets in addition to the driver-assist tools that come with the base Basic Autopilot model and the $6000 Enhanced model.

Musk’s first order also required Tesla employees to give all new users a demo. However, a later email expanded the rule to include owners of cars being returned from a service center. Other than the fact that the demos are called “short test rides,” nothing else is known about what they contain.

Musk wrote in his first email that “Almost no one realizes how well (supervised) FSD actually works.” He makes it clear that it is a strict necessity, but he also admits that the way will make the delivery process take longer.

Musk said yesterday that starting this week, all Tesla cars that can fully self-driving will be able to get a free one-month trial on X, the social media site that used to be called Twitter.
