The 1955 Alfa Romeo Camper Van Is Today’s Featured Listing On Bring A Trailer

Alfa Romeo is better known for making sports cars, which is what Enzo Ferrari did first. One of Alfa’s commercial models that gets ignored a lot is the bright green T10 Autotutto. It was a van or small truck that moved fresh focaccia, olives, and who knows what else through the streets of Rome and beyond. This type was used in Sicily and Modena as a regular van before it was turned into a camper and fixed up. The little things that make it unique are great, like the white stitching on the green vinyl seats and the 16-inch spare tire that is worn like a beret on the roof.

When the T10 first came out, it came with either a small supercharged diesel inline twin engine or a 750-cc engine shared with Alfa’s car line. The latter has a capacity of 1158 cc and a rather low 31 horsepower. It is in this camper. A four-speed manual engine can only go as fast as 47 mph.

That’s not really the best way to drive down the Autostrada or climb the Alps. Instead, this simple camper would be sent to Sicily or Sardinia, where you could spend a few weeks resting in small towns along back roads, stopping at cafés along the way. You can have lunch under the shade of a twisted olive tree with a picnic set. There is also a gas stove for cooking and a sink for cleaning up.

If you want to really feel like you’re on vacation in Europe in the 1950s, bring a film camera from that time. The good life is waiting for you.

The sale ends on February 27.
