Since they took the spy photographs a few months ago, Mazda’s most recent teaser film provides us with our finest look yet at the new three-row SUV. Next week, Mazda will demonstrate the CX-90 2024. We already know about its new turbocharged inline-six engine and plug-in hybrid powertrain, and we’ll find out a lot more on January 31, when Mazda officially shows off the car. But the video and screenshots below give you a sneak peek at the CX-90’s design. The CX-90 is essential because it is the first new Mazda car to use its longitudinal platform in the United States. The front of the CX-90 looks like the front of the CX-60, which is already sold in Europe. Both have a square grille and chrome accents. Mazda just announced the details of the inline-six turbocharged engine in the CX-90. It has a hybrid system with 48 volts and a 3.3-liter engine with 340 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. This red is a new color called “Artisan Red,” and the shape of the headlights is similar to that of other new Mazda cars. The CX-90 will feature three rows of seating, and then the CX-70, which will use the same platform but only have two rows, will be released. Both of these vehicles will share the same venue. Mazda’s first plug-in hybrid will be the CX-90’s gas-electric powertrain option. It will have a 2.5-liter inline-four gasoline engine, an electric motor, and a battery pack, giving it a range of about 35 miles on electric power alone. Mazda says the CX-90 will be shown off on January 31 and will go on sale in the spring of 2023. Even though the CX-90 will eventually replace the CX-9, we believe that, for now, both three-row SUVs will be on the market.
