  • The plug-in hybrid model with the Preferred trim costs $48,820, and the Premium model costs $54,275 and can pull 3,500 pounds.
  • Before you add any extras, the most expensive Premium Plus model starts at $61,325, while the most potent 3.3 Turbo S model starts at $53,125.

Mazda showed off the stylish new three-row SUV CX-90 for 2024. It will go on sale this spring. Mazda has announced a price range for the CX-90, the first time the Japanese automaker made a car with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The base 3.3 Turbo Select model starts at $40,970, while the top-of-the-line 3.3 Turbo S Premium Plus model starts at $61,325 before options.

There are many different trim levels and engine options for the CX-90. The standard Turbo model comes equipped with a 3.3-liter inline-six engine tuned to produce 280 horsepower. Additionally, there are five trim levels from which to choose. The models above the Select are the Preferred ($44,820) and Preferred Plus ($47,275). The Plus can tow up to 5,000 pounds and comes with free captain’s chairs in the second row. The Premium ($50,275) and Premium Plus ($54,325) come with these seats, a power panoramic sunroof, a Bose 12-speaker sound system, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen in the case of the Premium Plus.

The main draw is the new plug-in system, which starts at $48,820 for the Preferred model. The Premium costs $54,275 and increases your towing capacity to 3,500 pounds. The Premium Plus costs an extra $58,325. The differences in equipment between trims are mostly the same as on the 3.3 Turbo.

The 340-hp Turbo S motor is the most powerful engine, which starts at $53,125. This goes up to $57,825 for the Premium and $61,325 for the Premium Plus, both of which come standard with six seats, which the base Turbo S does not. All Turbo S models can pull the most weight, and the Premium adds driver settings that can be changed and set automatically based on the driver’s face. The Plus has a more luxurious interior. The first two rows of seats are ventilated, and the captain’s chairs in the second row are heated.

The starting price of the CX-90 is slightly higher than that of the twins Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade ($37,255 and $36,885, respectively) but less than that of the Jeep Grand Cherokee L ($44,830) and about the same as that of the Honda Pilot ($40,495). The most expensive Mazdas, which start at $65,505, are more comparable to the luxurious Grand Cherokee Summit than the lower end of the CX-90 lineup. While the Korean three-row and the Pilot both top out in the low $50,000 range, the most expensive Mazdas, which start at $65,505, are more akin to the luxurious Grand Cherokee Summit than the lower end of the CX-90 lineup. The CX-90 is only $945 more expensive than the CX-9 it replaces, but it is much more luxurious than the CX-9 Signature trim, which costs $49,735.
