Porsche is adding the Carrera S back to its range of updated 911s from the 922.2 generation. The 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera S’s 3.0-liter turbocharged flat-six engine produces 473 horsepower, and 390 pound-feet of torque, 30 horsepower more than the previous S. New turbos and better charge-air cooling are some of the other changes. The Sport Chrono Package can reach 60 mph in 3.1 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds faster than the old S, and reach a top speed of 191 mph. This puts it on par with the previous generation GTS in terms of performance. At the moment, rear-wheel drive and an eight-speed PDK are the only drivetrain choices. In the name of Porsche, I’d like to avoid making any promises. There might be a 4S version of the Carrera S soon with all-wheel drive, but I can’t promise that the manual transmission will come back. The new S has more basic equipment than the old one, and it comes in Coupe and convertible body styles. It also has more standard leather on the inside, updated dampers that are said to be more responsive and smoother, brakes from the previous generation GTS (408 mm front, 380 mm rear), and a Sport Exhaust system that is now standard. Ceramic composite brakes, rear-wheel steering, and PASM Sport Suspension, which lowers the ride height by 10 mm, are all options. This new 992.2 Carrera S is basically a resurrected 992.1 GTS for people who like the non-hybrid powertrain better than the new GTS’s hybrid powertrain. It has the same horsepower, speed, and brakes. The 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera S will cost between $148,395 for the Coupe and $161,595 for the Cabriolet, which puts it between the regular Carrera and the hybrid GTS. The first supplies are planned for this spring.
