The 2026 Ferrari 296 Speciale GTB Is Faster, More Powerful, And Efficient

When you visit Ferrari, the phrase “passion” will appear constantly. Ferrari must elicit strong emotions in the buyer before they will pay as much as a house for one of their magnificent Italian rolling rockets. Things like faster lap times and dollars per horsepower should not be seen objectively. Furthermore, Ferrari excels at generating a diverse line of vehicles, all of which may be customized in a variety of ways to increase owners’ pleasure of the high-performance Rosso Corsa.

One of the reasons this works is because of the range of car kinds available. The Challenge Stradale, a faster version of the 360 Modena, debuted in 2003.  Since then, a few years after the launch of the famed mid-engine sports cars, Ferrari fans have been anticipating the arrival of special versions. As with its peers, the 296 Speciale has a substantial impact on performance.  Ferrari engineers and designers methodically tweaked every facet of the high-end sports car’s performance range for this new model.

The standard 296GTB is the fastest rear-drive vehicle we’ve ever driven, powered by an 819-hp hybrid V-6 engine. This is tough because it is also one of the fastest to stop and has exceptional turning capability. After obtaining a $42K Assetto Fiorano package, the speed of the 296GTB we tested increased.  The package includes a 33-pound lighter Lexan rear window, Multimatic spool-valve dampers, and titanium suspension springs. The $34,000 carbon-fiber wheels, which lower the front-end weight by 18 pounds, should not be disregarded. Everything, including the lug nuts, was produced from TiO2.  The task for the new Speciale outperformed expectations.

This necessitated considerable modifications to every component of the vehicle, starting with the engine. When the boost pressure is increased by 3 psi, the 3.0-liter 120-degree V-6’s maximum output jumps from 654 horsepower to 691 horsepower and torque from 546 to 557 pound-feet. Despite its simplicity, the future F80 hypercar required stronger cylinders and titanium connecting rods due to higher combustion pressures. These components lowered the engine weight by 4.8 pounds.
