• As part of its goal to release a new limited-edition model every month for the next year, Jeep has introduced the Wrangler Whitecap for 2026.
  • The Whitecap is named after the CJ, a civilian version of the Jeep based on the original off-road car that became popular during World War 2.
  • Retro callbacks have a white top and a white stripe with “1941” written across the body.

The 2026 Jeep Wrangler Whitecap Pays Homage To The First CJ

Stellantis, the giant car company, likes special versions. These include patriotic Wranglers like the Willys ’41 and the “Last Call” Dodge Charger and Challenger series, which marked the end of the two V-8-powered muscle cars’ production in 2023. Last month, Jeep announced that next year it would release a new special-edition Wrangler every month, with the Moab 392 as the first. The second form, the Wrangler Whitecap, which looks like it’s from the past, is now out.

You can get the 2026 Jeep Wrangler Whitecap Sahara and Rubicon trim levels with either the 3.6-liter V-6 or the 2.0-liter four-cylinder supercharged engine. The V-6 has 15 more horsepower than the four-cylinder, with 285 versus 270.

Jeep says that the Whitecap was based on the CJ, the first civilian version of Jeep. The CJ was made after the Jeep helped US troops in WWII. The most clear link to the CJ is the Bright White roof. This feature was common on early hardtop Jeeps, giving the Whitecap a unique vintage look. The Sky One-Touch power soft top, which has bright white details on the outside corners, lets buyers customize their car to look like a roadster.

The Whitecap has a couple more white features, such as a panel around the seven-slot grille and a side strip that reads “1941.” The Sahara model has wheel flares that match the body color. They’re offered as a bundle on the Rubicon, and people who choose the Rubicon get a hood decal in Bright White.

The Whitecap trim increases the cost of a Rubicon by $3,185, raising the overall price to $51,150. The Sahara, with classic decor, which is $2,690 higher at $53,280, and the Rubicon X, which is $58,410 ($495 higher), are the new prices. Come back next month to find out more about the year-long party Wrangler Jeep held. Orders can now be placed.
