There is no doubt that the Tesla Model Y Performance will be back for the 2026 model year. Tesla states that the car produces 460 horsepower and can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds, making it three-tenths of a second quicker than the previous MYP. The Model Y Performance will initially be sold in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, but we can expect to hear about the North American model soon. Tesla is updating the top tier of the Model Y lineup with a redesigned Model Y Performance for this generation. The new model is an improvement over the old one, featuring redesigned front and rear fascias. Sources indicate that a carbon-fiber spoiler at the rear increases downforce and reduces drag. The new Model Y Performance shares the same frame as the Model 3 Performance, but it also features adaptive dampers that adjust according to speed, driving style, and road conditions. The new 21-inch wheels on the Model Y Performance have a wider track width. The new Model Y Performance is now available on the market, following the redesign of the Model 3 Performance last year. The specs look great on paper, as they do for all Teslas with the Performance name. From 0 to 62 mph it takes 3.5 seconds, and from 0 to 60 mph it takes 3.3 seconds. On a long (closed) track, it can go as fast as 155 mph. Due to Tesla’s refusal to share details, the exact battery capacity is unknown. On the European WLTP cycle, its estimated range is 360 miles, just four miles short of the all-wheel-drive Long Range version. Tesla says that the range is due to the higher-density cells in the battery pack. The improved version had a 15.4-inch screen, but the Performance model now has a 16-inch screen. Tesla reports that the enhanced display, featuring higher pixel density, will be available exclusively on the Performance model. The cabin feels more sporty with the addition of new front seats with more support. Among the first markets to receive the updated Model Y Performance will be Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Delivery will begin in September. Although we don’t know how the North American version will look or when it will be released, we don’t have to wait too long to see it.
