Chevy has unveiled the first teaser images of the 2027 Bolt, with production expected to begin soon and wrap up by the end of the year. Spy pictures reveal that the new Bolt’s body is identical to the old Bolt EUV’s, but the front and rear fascias have been redesigned. Chevy also said that the Bolt would have a NACS charging outlet, which would let the electric vehicle connect to Tesla’s big network of Superchargers. Chevy’s plans to produce a new Bolt have been known for over two years. General Motors unveiled a second version of its affordable EV, following the production halt of the first Bolt EV and EUV in late 2023. GM said earlier this year that by the end of 2025, the 2027 Chevy Bolt will be made at its Fairfax Assembly plant in Kansas City, Kansas. For the first time, we can see what the car will look like. We were surprised to see in new spy shots that the second-generation Bolt doesn’t look like a whole new car, but more like a big facelift. The body is shaped like an egg, just like the LEV type, with the front and back fascias hidden. Chevrolet has already shared a few sneak peeks of the front and back of the car on social media. Unlike the old “eyebrows,” which had a small angle, the new LED running lights are straight up and down and seem to be connected by a black piece of trim with a Chevy logo on it. There is now a link between the main headlight units below, which still have a rectangular shape, and the running lights as well. A diamond-patterned design is stamped into the metal just above the lower grille opening. Another important piece of information is a picture of the charging port, which proves that the 2018 Bolt will have a NACS link. Chevy also hinted at larger taillights and striking black wheels as part of the updated design. Since almost all cars use the NACS plug, the Bolt will be able to connect to Tesla‘s huge network of Superchargers. Chevy says that we will have more information in the fall. We think the Bolt will keep its competitive range, short charging times, and low price to start. Because people want SUVs, the Bolt might only come back as an EUV. In 2023, the Bolt EUV was priced at $28,795, significantly lower than its 2022 starting price of $34,495. We think the new 2027 model will cost around $30,000 or less.
