BMW unveiled the beautiful Concept Speedtop for the first time at the 2025 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy. The Speedtop is a shooting brake variant of last year’s Skytop, combining sleek design with a leather-lined interior. Just like the Skytop, only 70 Speedtops are planned to be built. This year, BMW is making a comeback at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, the prestigious vintage car exhibition held on the shores of Lake Como in Italy. The company has a long history of showing concept cars there. BMW has just unveiled the Concept Speedtop and the 2024 Concept Skytop. The Concept Speedtop is a shooting brake version of the roadster from last year. The Speedtop will also only be made in small numbers, just like the Skytop that was built on the 8-series. With their sharp, shark-nose front ends and small headlamp openings, the Speedtop and Skytop look a lot alike. The horizontal strakes on the light kidney grille are the same, and the strong back haunches are marked by the same strong character line that goes from the headlights to the taillights. The main difference between the Speedtop and the Skytop is that the Skytop’s roof now extends backward to form a hatchback. Like the Skytop, the hood has a metal spine that sticks out. A raised bar that extends into the rear spoiler on the roof highlights the Speedtop’s spine. The roof’s paint transitions from the base Floating Sunstone Maroon to Floating Sundown Silver, forming a gradient effect. The Speedtop features 14-spoke wheels with a two-tone finish and hidden door handles crafted from an inverted chrome piece integrated into the window trim. Interior Perspective Another thing is that the Skytop’s cabin, which is built on the 8-series coupe, is very similar to the limited-edition cars’. The Speedtop has two-tone leather on the inside. The seats and the lower three-quarters of the doors are upholstered in Moonstone White leather, while the center console, dashboard, and upper door panels feature Sundown Maroon leather. There are many Speedtop symbols inside the cabin to remind you of the car’s unique personality. There is also a thin strip of light in the headliner that matches the center spine on the roof. With its leather interior and warm LED lighting that fills the whole trunk, the trunk is almost as beautiful as the cabin. The Speedtop doesn’t have back seats; instead, it has two luggage shelves with leather straps to keep your things safe. Schedoni, an Italian company that makes leather goods, worked with BMW to make bags that go with these parts and a bigger duffel bag for the trunk. BMW only said that the Speedtop has the “most powerful V-8 engine currently offered by BMW,” which doesn’t say much about what’s under the car’s beautiful body. Based on what we know about the Skytop, the Speedtop has a 4.4-liter V-8 twin-turbo engine with 617 horsepower and an eight-speed automatic motor that sends power to all four wheels. Even though only 50 Skytops can be made, BMW plans to make 70 Speedtops and has opened up sales for them. People thought the Skytop cost more than $500,000, but the price hasn’t been confirmed. We think the Speedtop will cost about the same.
