• Cadillac has said that the next-generation XT5 will be sold in North America starting with the 2027 model year.
  • The company that makes the old XT5 said that they will keep making them until the end of 2026 so that they can catch up with the new generation.
  • The 2027 Cadillac XT5 will have a gas engine, most likely a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that was used in the previous model. A hybrid version is also possible.

The Cadillac XT5 Might Be A Hybrid When It Comes To The United States In 2027

Although it was previously announced that the XT5 would no longer be produced, Cadillac has now revealed that the next generation of its small luxury SUV will be sold in North America. The news was reported by the Detroit Free Press, which used a note sent to UAW workers in the area.

The XT5 Stays Away From The Axe

GM told staff in the message that the current XT5 would not be made this year as planned, but instead until the end of 2026. In response to the report, a Cadillac spokesperson told Invoice Pricing, “As Cadillac expands, we will keep adapting our lineup to align with customer preferences.”The existing generation of the Cadillac XT5, an important vehicle in our worldwide lineup, is set to stay in production until late 2026.

Due to its long production life, the current generation will continue to be made until the new model comes out for the 2027 model year. The Freep article says that the next-generation XT5 will still have a gas engine, even though the exact engine has not been confirmed yet.

Cadillac may be happy with the standard four-cylinder turbocharged engine and the optional V-6 engine, which each make 235 and 310 horsepower. But since the updated model is already on sale in China, we can look at it as a possible indicator for the model that will come out in North America.

Is There Going To Be A Mixed Model?

Cadillac is considering bringing the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid engine, presently featured in the Chinese version, to the U.S. market. It would have the same amount of power as the current four-cylinder, with 233 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The present and future XT5 will still be made at GM’s plant in Spring Hill, Tennessee. At the same factory, Cadillac also makes the Lyriq and Vistiq electric cars.
