• Factory Five Racing’s XTF truck kit for the 2015–2020 Ford F-150 now comes in a smoother Stage 1 version.
  • As the frame is already in place, the $9,990 Stage 1 kit saves time and preserves the original full-sized bed.
  • Carbon body panels cost $ 6,999, but the price could triple if supplies run out and taxes make it difficult to obtain more.

The First Phase Of The New Factory Five XTF Involves A Simplified Desert Racing Setup.

It’s possible that the Factory Five Racing XTF truck was too complicated or expensive for you to buy. However, a new, simpler version is now available, called the XTF Stage 1. The sharply flared desert-racer bodywork of the original model is kept, but the whole frame is replaced with a more standard bolt-on suspension. The final result appears nearly identical, but it’s priced at $9,990 rather than $24,990.  Additionally, the new kit is expected to take only 50 to 60 hours to install (excluding painting), whereas the old one required 200 hours or more.   This might be more of a problem for people who aren’t very good with machines.

Like the full-strength XTF, the Stage 1 is 90 inches wide and can fit tires that are 37 inches tall. It is also compatible with Ford F-150s from 2015 to 2020 that feature a 5.0-liter V-8 or a turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine. You don’t have to disassemble the frame and cab to install new long-travel, progressive-rate leaf springs and Fox dampers in the rear. You can also install new upper and lower control arms, as well as Fox dampers, in the front.

The Stage 1 front suspension delivers nearly the same range of motion, falling just two inches short of the custom-framed version.  If you tow frequently, the leaf-spring rear end is a better option. The rear won’t get as much travel as the XTF’s custom four-link system, which gives it 20 inches. Stage 1 features a full-depth pickup bed, which differs from its model.

The kit includes longer front CV axles, heavy-duty ball joints, larger front brake lines, and a new gas fill tube. Many people are drawn to carbon fiber, and they can opt for carbon body parts for an additional $ 6,999. But that price will stay in place as long as the company has panels in stock, which it plans to do until the end of the year. The price might then double because of tariffs. Carbon panels come from China, which has become a major source of carbon-fiber technology. Fiberglass panels, on the other hand, are made in Massachusetts. The price of the kit is also expected to increase to $12,490, most likely by the end of this year or the beginning of 2026.

It was fun to drive the first XTF at Silver Lake Dunes and the Team O’Neil Rally School, but the Stage 1 costs much less and looks and works the same. Because of this, Stage 1 might be all the XTF you need if you don’t usually see two feet of sunshine under your tires and can’t really lift the cab off of a truck.
