Last month, Genesis unveiled the G90 Wingback concept. Now, the company has put out public pictures and information about it. The inside of the G90 Wingback has been revealed. It has fancy-looking green padded leather-like fabric and rich-looking green stitching. Genesis hasn’t said for sure that they will make the Wingback, but there’s evidence they plan to. Last month, the GV60 Magma, the first model from Genesis’s new performance subbrand, was shown to the public. But two unexpected announcements took attention away from the 641-horsepower electric SUV. Genesis showed off the production-ready-looking G90 Wingback, a beautiful luxury wagon, and the Magma GT, a V8 mid-engine sports car that Genesis hopes will fight in the market. Genesis has finally released public images and information about the Wingback concept after a couple of weeks. Genesis has said that the Wingback and the standard G90 are built on the same base, but the Wingback’s bodywork is very different from the G90’s. The Wingback’s face now looks like it’s wearing flared nostrils because of the bigger grille, fenders that stick out, and extra vents. It also has a longer top, which makes it look like a fancy wagon. More subtly, but still aggressively, the vehicle has a rear diffuser, two rear skirts, and dive planes on the front bumper. The 22-inch wheels have a unique look. Genesis has also shown the G90 Wingback’s interior. It looks just like the base model, but it has different upholstery. The seats and door panels are covered in quilted Chamude, a fabric that looks a lot like suede and looks beautiful and cozy. The whole interior is stitched in green to match the car’s exterior. Also, the Magma logo is sewn onto the chair’s bolsters. Genesis hasn’t stated that the G90 Wingback will be produced, even though there have been hints that it might. Genesis has formally announced that it plans to expand the Magma program to cover a wide range of vehicle types across both its existing and upcoming models. Additionally, the car’s November debut suggested that production was under consideration. Luc Donckerwolke, the Chief Creative Officer, says that there are too many SUVs in the market right now. He also said, “This is when other typologies of cars are going to become attractive again,” which means that other types of cars will become popular now that the market is flooded with SUVs. The wagon shape is popular now because it’s different from all the crossovers, and that’s exactly what a new brand like Genesis might need to get high-end customers. If the Wingback is sold, it will likely be in limited numbers. Donckerwolke called it a “bridge between Magma and the One of One bespoke program.” Still, the new speed wagon is something to be proud of because it shows that Genesis wants to go up against well-known high-end brands.
