• Hyundai is giving the Sonata a new look on the outside for 2024.
  • There are new display screens inside, and the whole inside has been redesigned.
  • The Sonata should be available in the United States by the year’s end.

Hyundai is changing the Sonata, a mid-size sedan, to look like the Grandeur, Kona SUV, and Staria van. The new look is futuristic and stands out from the old Sonata, which came out for the 2020 model year and is now being replaced.

The grille and headlights have been changed, and the LED light strip that runs across the front of the car can now be seen. The lower fascia is now more pointed, and the light strip on the back tail lights is the same as on the front. Hyundai showed off the regular and sportier N Line models, which both have new types of wheels. The N Line is different because it has two exhaust tips, a rear spoiler, and 19-inch wheels. There are also new colors, like Cream Beige, Biophilic Blue Pearl, and Ultimate Red Metallic.

The most significant change to the inside is that the two substantial 12.3-inch displays have been merged into a single curved display binnacle. Some parts of the dashboard, like the climate controls, are also set up differently, and the materials look better. The gearshift and the steering wheel have been repositioned to create more space in the center console. The shifter can now be found on the steering column. Hyundai says they made the body stiffer to reduce noise, vibration, and harshness.

The 1.6-liter inline-four turbocharged engine is the only change that stands out in the Sonata’s engine lineup. Aside from that, it will have the same 191-hp 2.5-liter inline-four engine as the base model, a 290-hp 2.5-liter inline-four engine for the N Line, and the same 192-hp hybrid system as the base model. Even though the complete list of specs hasn’t been released, these horsepower numbers should stay the same for the 2024 model.

Hyundai will soon release more details about the car, and American specs must catch up.
