Kia showed off the EV5 concept, which shows how an electric compact SUV might look. The EV5 and the EV9, a three-row EV Vehicle, look alike. Even though Kia says that the EV5 will be available first in China, it will also be sold in the United States. If you like the new Kia EV9, a three-row electric SUV, you’ll also appreciate its younger sibling, the EV5. This smaller EV crossover was first shown as a concept. It is a preview of a production version that will go on sale in China later this year. It has the same blocky, modern design as the EV9. Even though Kia hasn’t said for sure, the EV5 will come to the United States. Even though Kia hasn’t said how big the EV5 is, it doesn’t look much smaller than the EV9 from these pictures. Compared to the EV9’s three rows of seats, its wheelbase looks shorter and has fewer rows of seats overall. Convention says that the EV5, a small crossover, will be cheaper and smaller than the EV6, a mid-size crossover with a slimmer shape. Even though we don’t know, the EV5 will use the same E-GMP platform as Kia’s other upcoming electric vehicles. Due to its 800-volt electrical architecture, which should allow for fast charging, this could come with various battery pack configurations and single- and dual-motor configurations. The futuristic interior of the EV5 concept, which has rear doors that open wide, a straightforward dashboard, and front and back seats that look weird, will probably be toned down for production. The seats also move in different ways, and an excellent platform in the trunk can be used as a table for tailgating. This isn’t a guess because the production EV9 has a rear seat that can be turned, and something similar may be added to the final EV5 model. In the coming months, we should learn more about EV5 while Kia gets the production model ready for the Chinese market. Kia said that details for more international markets would be released “in due time,” which could mean an announcement for the US will follow.
