• The Etna is a Croatian firm’s restomod reinterpretation of the Lamborghini Gallardo.
  • The V-10’s output slightly increased to 592 horsepower, but the biggest gain was that it weighed 450 pounds less.
  • The build aims to capture the classic charm of the baby Lambo while featuring a conversion to a six-speed manual.

Between 2003 and 2013, Lamborghini produced the Gallardo. It was a hit, selling just over 14,000 pieces. Ten years later, the Huracán is a bit better than it is now, but the V-12-powered Murciélago is also kind of making a comeback. But a coachbuilder from Croatia says he has a fix for the first cars.

The Lamborghini Gallardo Serves As The Basis For Tedson’s 592-HP Etna

You probably haven’t heard of Tedson Motors, which is based in Zagreb and has been in the restomod 911 business for a few years. It started out by making changes to a Porsche 964, but it did so in a very different way than Singer and Guntherworks did with their 911 redesigns. Tedson’s machine called the Daydream, had a flat-six engine that was cooled by air and had 540 horsepower. It worked with an electric motor to make hybrid power. Because of the extra low-end torque, the car was said to be able to hit 60 mph in less than three seconds.

Goran Turkić, the owner of Tedson, became interested in resto-mods while studying physics in Irvine, California, and after putting together his first 911 project in 1975. This new restaurant built on a Gallardo, called the Etna, adds to what the company has to offer. In 2022, Monaco was the first place to have a Daydream.

Tedson thinks it won’t affect the more odd cars with manual transmissions, but as in other places, you’ll need to bring your own Gallardo to get started. The old sheet metal is swapped out for a full carbon-fiber body, which, when paired with a titanium exhaust, makes the car 450 pounds lighter. Even though the car is wider and has better aerodynamics, it still has a very simple shape and 19-inch wheels.

Tedson will switch the transmission to a six-speed controlled manual if the buyer doesn’t want to keep the E-Gear automatic. The 5.0-liter V-10 engine is tuned to make 592 horsepower. The brakes are also made better, and the original suspension is fixed with parts from some Super Trofeo cars.

The Etna has been rebuilt well, and it still has some classic Gallardo features, such as hydraulic steering and an even firing order for the V-10. As a quick aside, later, V-10 Lamborghinis have a slightly different tone and a lot more vibration because they share the Audi R8’s odd-fire order. Some Lamborghini fans like the original “even-fire” tone. Tedson says that only 77 cars will be made and that each one will take about a year to make. As you might expect, for something that costs almost $800,000, customers can change a lot of things about it.

There are many companies in the restomod 911 market right now, so it’s not unusual for one to join a new one. We have to wait and see how many people are willing to pay more for a better Gallardo, but the Etna looks like a good attempt.
