The Lamborghini Temerario GT3, the company’s official factory-backed GT3 vehicle, is poised to replace the Huracán GT3 Evo 2. The Temerario GT3 is the first race car that Lamborghini designed and built at its factory in Sant’Agata, Bolognese. To comply with GT3 regulations, the Temerario GT3 will utilize a revised version of the 4.0-liter V-8 engine found in the street-legal variant. Everything good must happen, including backing from manufacturers for race cars that have been homologated. Also, just like the Lamborghini Temerario replaces the Huracán on the road, the Huracán GT3 Evo is replaced by the Temerario GT3 as Lamborghini’s official GT3 car. The Huracán GT3 Evo 2 will no longer be able to race because the Temerario GT3 has been cleared from 2022. Before the Temerario GT3, there were the Huracán GT3 and the Huracán GT3 Evo. Both of those cars were homologated in 2015. Like other GT3 cars, the frame was taken off the assembly line and changed for racing by getting rid of any unnecessary parts. It should be easier to take off and put back on the front and rear subframes during a race by making them simpler. A big part of that was getting rid of the standard car’s electric motors, which are against GT3 rules. The whole body is made of carbon fiber to keep the weight down. Lamborghini explains that the bodywork was developed through a joint effort between Squadra Corse’s aerodynamics team and the design team at Lamborghini Centro Stile. As is the case with many race cars, Lamborghini had to figure out how to make the race car look like a Temerario while also allowing for bigger cooling systems. The Temerario has the same twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine as the regular model, but the GT3 rules say that the turbochargers must be smaller for racing. It has a cross-axle gearbox with six speeds instead of the road car’s dual-clutch eight-speed transmission. Because it doesn’t have a hybrid engine and has to meet other performance standards, the race car has much less power than the road car (550 horsepower vs. over 900 horsepower). The Lamborghini company says that the powerplant for the production car was made with racing in mind from the start. The Italian car company says that the Temerario GT3 is the first competitive vehicle that was completely designed and built at its Sant’Agata Bolognese plant.
