Right now, the 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLB-class offers several engine options. At first, there will be two electric types, the GLB250+ and the GLB350. Later, a gas-efficient hybrid version will also be released. When the electric GLB is released at the end of next year, it will likely cost about $50,000, based on the price of its CLA-class cousin. EQB, we don’t know you very well. See you. Mercedes-Benz has revealed the upcoming 2027 GLB-Class. Even though the inside of the foxy compact box was completely redone, it still looks the same on the outside. Its small, square shape allows it to accommodate an amazing number of people. You won’t find the changes made to Mercedes’ second small entry-level car, the CLA-class, strange. The most important changes happen to the engine. When the GLB first comes out, it will be available only in two colors and will be driven entirely by electricity. Mercedes says the rear-wheel-drive GLB250+ with EQ Technology (for brevity, we won’t type out the full name again) can go from 0 to 60 mph in 7.3 seconds. It has 268 horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque. The GLB350 has dual-motor all-wheel drive, with a much higher output of 349 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. If more power and grip are needed, it can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds. Both types of rear axles have two-speed gear systems. A nickel-manganese-cobalt lunker with an 85 kWh output capacity powers the GLB250+ and GLB350. The rear-drive 250+ will be the group’s range queen; its WLTP range is estimated at 337-392 miles, which is equivalent to 286-333 miles in the US, according to our EPA conversion figures. The WLTP says the GLB350 can go 324 to 382 miles (our EPA conversion says 275 to 325 miles). The GLB350 improves speed but lowers the range. With an AC charger, both electric GLBs can be charged with up to 9.6 kW, and with a DC fast charger, up to 320 kW. A standard hybrid car will be added to the range soon for people who aren’t ready to make the switch to electric cars. The future CLA220 hybrid will take many things from the current CLA220. It has a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder, Miller-cycle gas engine that makes 188 horsepower. It also has a 1.3-kWh lithium-ion battery and a 27-hp electric motor, with an eight-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission. Mercedes says this hybrid system will run on electricity alone for short stretches, but it can only reach 60 mph at most. The bigger GLB should give you more space inside. The new GLB’s wheelbase is 2.4 inches longer than the last model’s. The new model’s body is 3.9 inches longer, 1.1 inches wider, and 0.9 inches shorter than the old one. Even though there is 0.1 inch less space in the third row, there is 2.7 inches more legroom in the second row. It increases the usable space in almost every parameter. In that way, the GLB will still be made with five and seven seats. It should be easier to get in and out of the third row now that the back door openings are larger and the second-row seats can slide more. The GLB’s most recent iteration is not the “Baby G” we were looking for, even though it would have been great. Even so, the new generation gave this little Scion xB look-alike several style updates. The front has the same unibrow and big grille style as the new CLA-class, and the back has a lot of LED lights. In real life, it looks more squared off than the one before it. The D-pillar looks chunkier and taller, making it appear more squared off. The home is next. If you pick the correctly named Superscreen setup, there will be a 14-inch tablet in the middle, a 14-inch screen for the passenger, and a 10.3-inch digital screen for the driver. People who don’t want to spend an unknown amount of money on the Superscreen will have access to two-thirds of that setup; the only thing upgrading adds is a display for passengers. For people who like physical buttons, the steering wheel features a volume slider and an adaptive speed control rocker switch, both of which are popularly requested. There is a lot of AI in the GLB’s technology stack, but we won’t talk about it much because it is always trying to replace our jobs. The infotainment system can now have a chat, and most of its software can be updated over the air, but it depends on many AI agents at the same time. Right now, people are using Google Maps to navigate in cars. The electric CLA CLA250+ and CLA350 share the same EV powertrains as the GLB. The CLA250+ is $48,400, and the CLA350 is $51,050. For a while, pricing will likely not be offered. The electric GLB should cost a lot more than that because it’s bigger. The hybrid versions will come out in early 2027. The 2027 Mercedes-Benz CLA-class EV will go on sale at the end of next year.
