With EQ Technology, the 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLC is the newest car in the GLC class from Mercedes-Benz. The new platform on which the GLC EV is built features a unique internal design, a longer wheelbase, and distinctive sheet metal. There will be two trim levels for the GLC EV. The first will go on sale in late 2026, and the second will come out in early 2027. Mercedes-Benz continues to push forward into the future. Until now, most of the company’s EV releases have been positioned at the top of the lineup. However, the upcoming CLA-class EV, set to launch later this year, is expected to break that trend. Mercedes also unveiled its next volume electric model, the 2027 GLC with EQ Technology, set to launch in late 2026 alongside the CLA EV. Other EVs use bases that were already made for internal combustion engines, but Mercedes built the GLC EV from the ground up. The EV and the gasoline-powered GLC-class share the same name, but the EV is completely different, from its wheelbase to its body panels to its internal design. Mercedes did not go to great lengths to make the EV stand out from the GLC, and at first glance, it can still be recognized as a GLC. The optional new grille, which has a matrix pattern made up of 942 lit dots, is the most obvious change. The GLC EV is bigger than the gas-powered model. It’s 190.7 inches long from nose to tail, seven inches longer than the gas-powered model. There will be two different kinds of the GLC EV. The GLC400 4Matic will be the initial model to go on sale. It will have motors on each side for all-wheel drive. Mercedes says that the GLC400 can go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds thanks to its two motors, which give it 483 horsepower and 596 pound-feet of torque. Even though it doesn’t have the 400’s front engine, the second-placed GLC300+ has a good 369 horsepower and 372 pound-feet of torque. Mercedes confirms that the rear-wheel-drive GLC EV accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds. The back axle motors on both models will be linked to a two-speed gear. The 5:1 ratio of the second gear makes power transfer and efficiency better at higher speeds. The 11:1 ratio of the first gear should help with speeding up, pulling, and efficiency. The latest version of Merc’s available Hyperscreen can be found in the GLC EV’s dashboard. The GLC EV comes with a 39.1-inch display that spans from one A-pillar to the other. It is the biggest continuous screen that Mercedes has ever made. The Mercedes features a camera that allows drivers to join meetings while driving, and the company states that the operating system for the screen is compatible with the latest version of Microsoft Teams. The video stream for the meeting cuts off instantly when the GLC EV moves to follow local rules. Your boss can see you drive, but you can’t see them. People who don’t want to spend extra money on the huge screen will have to make do with a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, a 14-inch touchscreen for entertainment in the middle, and a 14-inch screen on the dashboard in front of the passenger. That is still more than enough screen space. Both the GLC450 and GLC300+ feature the same 94.0-kWh lithium-ion battery pack with an 800-volt system. Although official EPA range figures for the GLC EV are not yet available, Mercedes’ European WLTP estimate indicates an expected range of around 376 miles. GLC EV customers will benefit from reduced charging times thanks to the use of 800-volt wiring. Mercedes states that when connected to a genuine DC fast charger, the battery will charge from 10% to 80% in under 24 minutes. Based on WLTP figures, Mercedes says you should be able to get 160 miles of range if you charge for ten minutes. Mercedes states that the new batteries were designed to be easy to maintain and repair. The electrical unit of the battery can be reached from below the car, so it can be fixed or changed without affecting the whole battery. When it comes out in late 2026, the GLC400 will be the first car that can be bought. The GLC300+ is expected to be released in early 2027. The exact price for the GLC EV combination will be made public when it goes on sale. The BMW iX3, which just came out and has all-wheel drive, 463 horsepower, and a range of about 400 miles, will be a straight competitor to the GLC EV.
