Hyundai is taking back more than 26,000 Velosters made between 2012 and 2013 because a short circuit in the parking sensors could cause a fire more likely. A recall posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website says that “high conductive fluids” could get into the Veloster’s reverse parking sensor module, which could cause the system to short out and start a fire. 26,169 Velosters made between 2012 and 2013 are included in the recall. Consumer Reports says that Hyundai has been told about five fires caused by the problem, even though no accidents or injuries have been reported. There is a solution, which is good news. The reverse parking aid sensor fuse will be replaced for free by the dealer in the affected vehicles. On April 29, the owners should get letters about the problem. You may check if your car is involved by visiting the NHTSA website and entering the VIN.
