The Porsche Cayenne will get a mid-cycle update in 2024. The dashboard will be changed as part of this update. The analog tachometer has been replaced by a curved digital gauge cluster that looks like it was taken from the Porsche Taycan. The Cayenne’s interior has been updated with a new steering wheel, a shifter that has been moved to the dashboard, updated HVAC controls, and an optional display on the side facing the passenger. As part of a mid-cycle refresh, the 2024 Porsche Cayenne will have several new features when it debuts at the Shanghai auto show next month. On the other hand, Porsche gives a sneak peek at the redesigned interior of the Cayenne before the full reveal on April 18. This was inspired by the Taycan EV, which has a lot of screens. The driver of the new Cayenne looks at the 12.6-inch curved display on the dashboard. The big tachometer in the middle is no longer there. Porsche says that it did not decide to switch to an all-digital system lightly and that it keeps its past while giving it more options for the future. The second option is to change to a classic look, which turns the screen into the famous five-tube instrument display used by Porsche. Porsche stays true to its past in some ways, like keeping the ignition switch on the left side of the steering wheel. The steering wheel is brand new. It came from a Porsche 911 and now has a standard drive-mode selector. In the Cayenne, the traditional shift lever has been replaced by a small button on the dashboard to the right of the steering wheel. This may not be to the liking of purists. Porsche thinks buyers will like the extra space even if the car looks terrible. Even though the new Cayenne is missing some classic features, it still has a volume knob and other tactile buttons for the HVAC system. On the central console, several switches and touch-sensitive controls give haptic feedback. Customers can change the temperature by choosing from new air vents that don’t have louvers for the first time. The center of the new Cayenne dashboard is where the 12.3-inch touchscreen of the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system is located. This screen is the system’s nerve center. All the features listed above, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, can be used without a wire. The entertainment system now has a 10.3-inch touchscreen for the front passenger. For safety reasons, the driver can’t use it. Even though movies can be streamed to the screens in the dash, Porsche says that the central screen must be moving to work. Other changes inside the 2024 Cayenne include an excellent place to store smartphones with wireless charging, a more comprehensive range of voice commands that work, and more USB-C outlets.
