Mercedes-Benz is getting ready to release a new electric car. At this weekend’s GLC EV reveal, the company gave hints about the C-class EV. The EV C-Class and its SUV counterpart both appear to share the same striking and vibrant front design. The C-class EV may be based on the GLC EV platform when it comes out in 2026. Mercedes-Benz presented the 2027 GLC-Class EV, its latest electric SUV, during the IAA event in Munich. It also gave people their first look at a new style that will likely be a mainstay of the German automaker’s electric range. The GLC EV features a stunning grille with 942 individually lit square dots, each unique from the others. The hazy sneak peek at the new C-class EV shows a front end that is just as flashy. We can barely see anything in the blurry picture, but the light-up grille and the thin LED strip around the triangular screen’s edge are easy to make out. Horizontal vanes separate the grille’s rows of small square pieces. At the bottom, the LED show ends, and it looks like there is a real hole that lets cool air reach the motors and battery. A clear car shape and downward-angled headlights with a thin LED “eyebrow” and an LED element shaped like the well-known Mercedes-Benz logo are the only other things that can be seen. On the GLC EV, the dazzling grille is an extra that you can choose to have. The regular grille is the same as the dazzling grille, but doesn’t have lights. The next electric car should be the same. The C-class EV is likely to come out in 2026, and it may even go on sale in the US the following year. As the current C-Class generation debuted for the 2022 model year, the launch of the electric compact luxury model could align with an updated version of the gasoline-powered car. The GLC EV will likely use the same frame as the C-class EV. The vehicle will be offered with either a 483-hp dual-motor setup or a 369-hp single-motor configuration. The all-wheel-drive GLC EV should be able to go about 376 miles on a single charge thanks to its 94-kWh battery pack. Over the next year, more details about the Mercedes-Benz C-class EV should become public.
